The New "Hawaii Five-O" Is Number One In Something...

As far as I know, Hawaii Five-O has not been "maligned" anywhere, except on this board, where people seemed to be convinced that it was destined for cancellation just because it wasn't the most popular show in TV history...and because the producers didn't find a way to reanimate Jack Lord and James MacArthur to play the leads.

I remember and grew up with the original Hawaii 5-0. My favorite memory is that, during our annual family vacation in Hawaii in the 70's, a black limo pulled up at the Ilikai Hotel and a well-dressed man jumped out. My cousin yelled, "Hey, that's McGarrett from Hawaii 5-0!! :D

Anyway, I like the new Hawaii Five-O. I just don't pretend that it's the old series. Just think of "NCIS: Hawaii" or "CSI: Hawaii" and that's the flavor of the show.

I don't know how the other maligners feel but I dissed the show because the only way it resembles the old one is the locale and they co-opted the name as a cheap marketing stunt. Same with The Defenders.

Yes, I've watched both. No, I don't watch either any longer. The only people I know who still watch 5-0 are females. No need to ask them why.

5-0 is a remake, it was supposed to be a remake. The Defenders is not a remake and never was supposed to be. They're two different types of animals.

And the entire underlying premise of being about a special law enforcement unit in the state, working on various outlandish crimes. Yeah, other than that, no resemblance. ;)

Except it was in no way a remake, nor marketed as such.
