"The New" in Station Brandings

What's the longest you've ever seen/heard "The New" in a station branding? I remember 96.7 The Coast in Fairfield County kept "The New" from 2006 until its final signoff in 2011 to move to New Rochelle and become K-Love for NYC...

In Albany, IIRC 102.3 Kiss FM was "The New 102.3 Kiss FM" for at least five years (vaguely remember hearing it as late as 2005)... when would you drop "The New"? I'd probably drop it after six months to a year at most... I know Cox is pretty bad with keeping it for years :)

KRAV-Tulsa (also a Cox station) was "The New Mix-96" from 1999 or before to 2010.

5 years is a long time...in Boston, WBZ-FM debuted its "Sports Hub" format in August of 2009 and called itself "Boston's New (FM) Home for Sports". The only FM sports station in town. Two years later WEEI started to simulcast on 93.7 FM so WBZ-FM amended it to "Boston's Home For Sports". They obviously couldn't claim to be the only FM running sports, but the "new" fell by the wayside. The first FM
sports talker but now not the only one.

Rejoice 1410 AM WRJD in Durham, NC, which just went under on Christmas Day, used "The New Rejoice 1410 AM" branding from 2006 right up until the very end.

106.9 The Eagle in Birmingham AL only recently dropped "The New" in the past few months, after using it since 2005. Their Competition Rock 99 started using it for some reason last year until their demise yesterday night.

KKWF Seattle ("The NEW 100.7 The Wolf" has been using "NEW" since 2005.)

After a year, I really, really think any station needs to retire the "NEW" gimmick. It's annoying.

The ID should say the "NEW 92.9 (insert branding)" for about two months or so, then afterwards switch to "92.9 (insert branding)". It is annoying.

In Houston, we've had "The New 93Q" since 1992.
Like the aforementioned 102.3 KISS-FM and Mix-96, The New 93Q is a Cox station.

When "Beautiful 102, WGER", Bay City/Saginaw, MI swapped freqs and formats with Hits 106.3 WIOG in the early part of the 80's, the were "The New 102, WIOG" for several years... at least through the rest of the 80's.

last I checked 102.3 Kiss FM is Clear Channel :)
Thanks; I stand corrected.

107.5 in Houston was identifying itself as "Houston's 107.5, THE NEW K-Hits" from early 2008 at least until I moved back to Ohio in November 2009.
Close to this vein, WHIO-AM/FM in Dayton has identified as "AM 1290 *and now* 95.7 FM, NewsTalk Radio WHIO" since that simulcast began in October 2006.

The New 107-3 The Eagle in Tampa is Cox also. Has been new for a few years now. I remember a simular format in Harisburg PA useing the same format/branding and it wasn't New. Back then in (1997) or so, that Eagle wasn't owned by cox. 96.9 in Jacksonville, FL (another Cox) also is classic Hits under "The New 96-9 The Eagle"
