The new Mix 102.1 and Z-95

I thought maybe it was in Florence. They do have the right call letters.

But a few minutes later I checked back and it was 102.1 the Fox again. I was getting stations from all over on the third floor in Myrtle Beach.

I also heard, and lost, Z-95. "We play everything".

You sure you didn't pick up Savannah in some weird fluke?

WZAT-FM is on 102.1 and uses that EXACT phrase...

They also have a pretty large signal. I can pick up most of the class C SAV stations beginning in Manning.

I have picked up Savannah stations. One I remember is a hard rock station that later went classic rock. It was at 95.

Now what about Z-95?

Yeah...95.5 used to be our active rocker that's pretty much gone "Everything That Rocks" AOR. I-95 is the name of that one. They have a pretty clear channel to the north and I have once picked them up in Flo-town over WKML on 95.7.

I think the Z-95 you're thinking of is WIBZ in Sumter. If I'm not mistaken, that's kind of Miller Communication's "flagship" station. They have a beach music/oldies show that gets simulcasted to a bunch of other Miller stations in the area.

A nice catch being in an urban area like myrtle. I'm within eyeshot of a tower with 4 FM's and a translator on it...so I relish those days here in Bluffton when I can pick up North Florida and upstate stations. My best catch was KUT and KLBJ in Austin on a pretty rare tropo grab in my car, but I pick up Tampa and Orlando stations about twice a year and Jacksonville stations on a regular basis.
