The New Network Name

Just doesn't sound like a name I would name a broadcast network. But I guess years ago no one thought they would call CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX those names. Well this name "The CW" sure it means The CBS Warner Network. I just think they could of thought a better name.

They should really rethink that name and maybe just stick with the WB, it actually has a pretty good ring. UPN just sounds every C-SPAN and most people don't look for entertainment on C-Span, our gift from the cable industry<P ID="signature">______________

Don't forget that CBS owns 50% of the new network

...well, they're lucky they didn't name the new outfit The WC -- Jack Paar got into a dust-up with NBC over that phrasing! ;-) ...<P ID="signature">______________

At least with most UPN stations you knew which channel to tune to...not quite as easy finding "The Gulf Coast WB" if you didn't previously know that it was WBPG-TV 55, Gulf Shores/Mobile, AL.

Speaking of which, I wonder who'll get 'The CW' amongst WBPG (co-owned by LIN with Fox affil WALA-TV) and Clear Channel's WJTC-44, licensed to Pensacola, FL. <P ID="signature">______________

They could have named it "The WC", but that has its own baggage!!!

It's a better name than "The Overmyer Network" or "DuMont" ...<P ID="signature">______________

Which reminds me ... shouldn't there be a "T" (for Tribune) in there?

NOOOOO! That'll remind me too much of the monogram that CW alone already reminds me of: CTW - The Children's Television Workshop.

CW reminds me of "country/western" of course I'm old and that is what it was called in the early 70s

Maybe they could try CBS2

WBS?

WBUPN?

They should've put some kind of reference to UPN. Yeah I know it's owned by CBS.

Viacom = By way of communists?

Hmmm?<P ID="signature">______________

The "United Networks"

Drop reference to Paramount, and call the new network The United Networks....that's right, say hello to "The U-N". <P ID="signature">______________
