The New Progressive Talk Line-Up

With Thom Hartmann moving his show to a live airing 3 to 6pm Eastern, he no longer overlaps with Ed Schultz but does overlap with Randi Rhodes. I wonder what Hartmann affiliates are doing with his show if they didn't delay him originally. In NYC it doesn't matter since WWRL had been delaying him till 3pm anyway and delaying Randi Rhodes till 6pm.

Here's the current line-up, with their live airings in Eastern Time...

6 - 9am: Bill Press (Dial-Global)
9am - Noon: Stephanie Miller (Dial-Global)
Noon - 3pm: Ed Schultz (Dial-Global)
3 - 6pm: Thom Hartmann (Dial-Global)
3 - 6pm: Randi Rhodes (Premiere)
9pm - Midnight: Mike Malloy (?)
10pm - 1am: Alan Colmes (Fox)

I'm not sure when Norman Colman and Leslie Marshall do their shows live. Colman doesn't air in NYC and Marshall is delayed till Midnight on 1600 WWRL. I don't think Colman, Marshall or Malloy have many affiliates.

So if your market airs both Hartmann and Rhodes, how is your local Progressive Talk station dealing with the overlapping times?

Buffalo's WWKB airs Marshall from 7:00 -10:00 PM daily and I believe that she is live at that time.

OK, so here's the line up, Eastern Time...

6 - 9am: Bill Press (Dial-Global)
9am - Noon: Stephanie Miller (Dial-Global)
Noon - 3pm: Ed Schultz (Dial-Global)
3 - 6pm: Thom Hartmann (Dial-Global)
3 - 6pm: Randi Rhodes (Premiere)
6 - 9pm: Norman Goldman (Dial-Global)
7pm - 10pm: Leslie Marshall (?)
9pm - Midnight: Mike Malloy (?)
10pm - 1am: Alan Colmes (Fox)

Some progressive talk stations, such as WWRL and WWKB, air Phil Hendrie overnight, although he's more comedy than political.

Norman is with Compass Media Networks, a small syndicator only a few years old. They also syndicate Lars Larson and Todd Schnitt.

In looking at the websites for the Progressive Talkers in the two largest markets, I found it interesting that WWRL programs 19 hours (minus the informercials) and KTLK programs 24 hours (with the exception of Clark Howard) and only overlap on 1 personality-Randi Rhodes.

Clearly there are enough hosts to go around for now.
