WAHR has made the transition to Hot A/C and are now branding themselves as "The New Star 99.1" along with a new logo. I personally thing this is a good move for the station if they are firm on desciding to stay with the A/C crowd. They needed to make some changes to offer something different than Lite 96.9 and I think they are on the right track with this move. They will cater to the younger of the A/C target demo leaving Lite 96.9 for the older half. The music is sounding pretty good from what I've heard so far. I only wonder if the Bob and Sheri morning show will fit with the new playlist or if they will need to go with a bit younger sounding show. I hope this change will make WZYP stop their crappy Hot A/C wanna be style programming during the day and stick with CHR/Top 40 all day like they should be doing in the first place! Yea the old Star 99.1 had a younger sound but not nearly to this extent and not enough to call them Hot a/c. You can definitely say they're Hot A/C now though. I'm afraid you're right too that Cumulus isn't likely to change WZYP knowing how they like to do Top 40 (if you can call it top 40).
