The New TV Guide

Well, I got my "new and improved" TV Guide yesterday in the mail.

Since I already subscribe to Entertainment Weekly I'll be dropping my TV Guide subscription when it's up for renewal in March. Why get a duplicate of services?

The old format with ALL the listings was so convenient to keep couchside. Much easier for me to use than an on screen guide...or logging on to the Internet. Besides, I don't have a computer in my living room anyway.

Then again, at age 50, I'm probably out of their target demographic so what do they care about losing this old curmudgeon?

Bet that last copy of the old format fetches a pretty penny on on-line auctions!!

I also notice that our local paper...in anticipation of the TV Guide change I'm sure...greately expanded their TV listings. Hmmmmmmm

There is a large discussion going on at Natiooal TV about the new TV Guide

http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=561957&Board=tv-usa

There is an advert airing that has a woman saying something like "I wish all those annoying little black and white listings were gone" or some such.

When I first saw it, my reply back to the TV was, "Well those annoying little black and white listings were the main reason people purchaced TV Guide."

Looking at the useless new version, my guess is that they want to save money on one edition and think that they can get people to their website and joke of a channel. I give the rag a year or less.<P ID="signature">______________

I bought the first issue to see what it was like. I thought I wasn't going to find a copy in the stores up until today, and Wal Mart is the only store that I've seen it in. I definitely won't be buying it again.

Why not drop it now? You can cancel without even having to talk to a human, if you call their "customer service" department at 800-866-1400 with the magazine in front of you (so you can get the account number off the mailing label). They'll mail a refund check for the unused portion of your subscription.
