The demo's for this format will require a very promotional and creative sales
department. For this format and with the best case scenario market share, the agencies won't even be a factor. I've been involved in several start ups and it takes building the station up one direct account at a time.
No doubt, given time, focus and yes passion this is a station that can perhaps crack 750K a year, which is the type of nut you need to look at for an LMA plus expenses. The real question is if the backers have the patience and staying power to make it happen. Never before has 1160,1180,1230 or any of the other low powered Cincinnati AM stations made it to this point and that
has been with what have been some pretty hot niche formats and enviable sport franchises. Of course correcting the nightime signal which kills 1160's AM and PM drive in the Fall and Winter, could be the wild card!
I wish the new operators well, if for no other reason than it has made for some pretty interesting postings on the message board!
