Well the hot ac is not them, too much hip hop, not enough 80's and old school actually none and they do play new rap - in the nightime.
They do not play hip hop like the Zone, but the Zone also plays hip hop that most CHR's in the country will never touch !!!!
example- ying yang twins- naggin
Q 94 can only be considered HOT AC on Fridays w/ Flashback Friday, and they get alot of audience on that.
Hell I know ppl 15 yrs olds listening to Q and some in their 50's and 60's. SO they have to appeal to all ppl. Their main focus is 12-34, but they have older and appeal to them.
Davis is not the best show I liked Jake Glenn better, but do not tell the ratings that they have climbed on both this show and the station.
Q is better CHR than the ZONE cause Q is a TRUE CHR, but the ZONE has bigger library, and yes I do like the Zone better because of that. But the Zone plays things over too much and are not taking full control over their bigger library.. I listened for 3 hrs and heard "Behind These Hazel Eyes" twice, "Lose Control" by Missy twice, "Candy Shop" by 50 twice.....etc, so I had to turn it off
And for the urban stations....Power 92 Jamz is a great station w/ off the hook mix shows and the Beat follows right behind. THey are both doing great and if there was only one of them a Hip Hop station would be # 1. Plus Richmond does not need a station that Norfolk had (92.1 the Beat, u saw the poor ratings on that and how it is gone)
Our urban stations I think are better than the 2 in the DC area. 93.9 and 95.5 - but nothing tops 92.3 up in B-more. They are awesome and same w/ HOT 1021 in VA Beach. If HOT had a single they could rule the 757.
