The News Eclipse (version 2011)

Interesting that there was very little mention of the crisis in Libya today due to the bigger Japan quake story. I don't quibble with this one bit, but it may allow events in Libya to go unnoticed, and may very well keep that country's dictator in power due to lack of international attention. Just a thought about how news is covered, and in the end, we are really not in control...

Notice how people forgot about the state of Wisconsin for the day too?

Though a few of the talking heads still managed to get in a little blurb of both. Just not as much as yesterday. Just like when Gabby Giffords was shot amidst all the hubbub of the November elections.....

Kinda nice (In a twisted way of course) huh? ;)

That said.....Back to the grindstone

Cheers :D

About 10 minutes after I posted this, I noticed Anderson Cooper did a report on Libya. However, he is in the minority. No mention of Libya (or Wisconsin) on any on the evening network news programs tonight. Proof that news is indeed a "product", not an important summary of events.

Gabby Giffords was shot on January 8. What does that have to do with the November elections?

I think he was referring to the hubbub over the likely candidates for the November elections.

I was referring to the fallout of the elections & the uncivility/insanity in Washington that came as a result of it (Which of course was momentarily changed after the assassination attempt on Gabby Giffords)

Cheers :D

...which had nothing to do with a lone nutjob's crime.

[/quote]Err....Actually it did considering that it was only after (Note that I only used bold text Trip? ;D ) the shooting that some semblance of civility/sanity was restored in Washington.....

Cheers :D

EDIT NOTE TO ADMIN - PLEASE fix the quote bug on this board. It's ANNOYING.....

The only bug is users who don't match up the "quote start" and "quote end" tags when posting. Yes, it is annoying, but you can fix it yourself by paying close attention.

I can do both & it'll still come out crappy sometimes (And yes it will look exactly as it should in the editor). It just isn't always reproduced the same way when posted.

Anyway.....Back on topic..... ;)

Cheers :D

Interesting that no one mentioned Charlie Sheen.

I did hear he wants to go to Haiti. Probably better to stick with those plans because those people don't deserve to be ignored just because something equally bad just happened.
