THE NFL ON FOX: AMERICAS GAME OF THE "WEAK".

In an attempt to take advantage of the transition between the 4:15 pm NFL game and the World Series Baseball game which followed, FOX Sports branded its doubleheader game of Minnesota vs New England as "Americas Game of the Week".

This snoozefest which featured most of the discussion around veteran qb/diva/self-photographer Brett Favre, who was knocked from the game in the second half, was aired in 95 percent of the country.

Meanwhile, several thousand miles west, perpetual doormats Tampa Bay and Arizona went at it, in a back and forth thrilling 38-35 victory for the Bucs. This game was seen in Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando and most of Arizona, or a whopping 5 percent of the country.

Look, FOX, don't go overboard with the Game of The week moniker, unless you are actually showing a game to 100 percent of the country, as they did before another baseball playoff game.

I snoozed lunched through the 2nd quarter of the AZ-TB game. The score might seem "thrilling" but the play-by-play was anything but thrilling. Compared to (say) yesterday's USC-OSU game (or one of a dozen of other college games) it looked like football in slow motion. A few plays qualified for the bloopers reel (the best one being the missed TD toss that the Card's QB bounced off his own lineman's helmet).

Like the announcer said during the game.....these are not the best teams in the NFL but they are competitive with each other. Kinda like Little Sisters of the Poor VS Father Murphy's Orphanage.

It continually amazes me anyone pays money for tickets.

Granted, if the game was being played in Tampa, chances are the Minnesota/New England game would have been shown there by default, since they're having a little trouble selling Bucs tickets...

It's a good team this year...why are tickets slow to be sold?

Not unless the Bucs were moved to 1 pm. Were it to be in Tampa at 4:15 pm, the game most likely would have been blacked out, and we would have seen one of the two CBS 4:05 games here.

The post was more or less a shot at FOX for pimping a "National" game that wasn't aired literally coast to coast as the Sunday and Monday night games are.

As for the Bucs success, its parity. They travel to Atlanta sunday, where the well rested Falcons should right the NFC South ship with an easy win.

I have a question regarding the decisions about what games to show.

See the topic "Why I missed 'Undercover Boss' on Halloween".

As far as the Buccaneers are concerned... Don't count out the Pewter Pirates. In fact, history is on their side: Every year for the last several years, the team that finished last in the NFC South won the division the very next year. Weird, I know...

My question is a little more complicated.

As far as the "game of the weak" is concerned, I seem to recall hearing the 49ers and the Panthers had both won no games when they met last week.
