The numbers 850 still prominent on WEEI

If rumours are true WEEI will need new call in numbers and text numbers since 850 is still being used in both these categories.

True but for now Ent. is hesitant about making the change to all ESPN. It still could happen but
even Wolfe in an online chat basically just said "we have a good relationship with ESPN" etc but wouldn't come out and say for sure it would happen.
Yes it would make sense to prob change the phone number, maybe to 9370 or 0937 etc.
Certainly stations put the freq in some phone numbers: 266-6868 for WRKO (though they also
use the 877-HOWIECA(rr) I believe...MBR's number ends in 8810, WBZ's in 1030...and while WMWM
used to have 745-9170, when the college (now a univ.) switched to the 542 exchange, the 9000 block wasn't available so we got 8500 instead.

Switching 850 to ESPN or not, why would they need to change their phone numbers? They've had the same call-in number for nearly 20 years. It's pretty well ingrained in their core audience (the people using it to call in).

It's not as though 850 is going to need it if it's going to be a 24/7 simulcast of a national network.

Why is there skepticism that 850 won't go to ESPN 24/7? Finn announced it would flip after some speculation and rumors. There has been nothing to refute Finn that I know about. Before the announcement WEEI was already emphasizing 93.7 at the sake of 850.
