SBS is 10% owned by CBS, and they have such ventures in the Tampa and Washington, DC, markets already. Movin will be moviendo to español soon."
I hate to admit it (since I don't speak Spanish), but that makes sense. Given the high ratings for the KSOL twins, and the decent ratings for KRZZ despite the crappy signal (93.3), a Bay Area Spanish FM with a strong signal could be winner.
David - did you mention before that reggaeton might be the format? I don't believe "La Kalle" rates very high, but that may also be due to signal problems. The South Bay signal (105.7) is strong, but the North Bay/SF signal (100.7) is not. Might they move El Cucuy to 99.7? I'm interested to hear your analysis.

It would be interesting to see, in other markets, how the MOViN format(s) are doing. Does Alan Burns have any type of programming guarantee?

Cucuy is the source of many rumors, including possible non-continuation of his soon-to-expire deal. Who knows? The problems have to do with his much-publicized arrest for alleged spousal and child abuse and threatening of police officers in early January; he was off the air for more than 9 weeks through last week, and has been on intermittently since then. I would not bet on him being moved to the better signal; in places like Phoenix and LAs Vegas he was beaten by Piolin (KSOL) by something like 5 to 1 until they took him off.
KXOL is doing well in LA, particularly since the bilingual format allows them better access to general market accounts and the sales pitch is credible: reach the more assimilated Hispanic who is bilingual and likes music of the home culture.
At the moment, this is all speculation, as they are, expectedly, not telling me anything. ;D

"KCBS on 106.9? WHAT A GREAT IDEA~!!!!! I am all for that"
You are kidding, right? Why simulcast a news station on FM - so we can hear traffic reports in high fidelity stereo?
