The Oakland Raiders & Knoxville

According to this website “For the fourth quarter, October through December, radio station revenue would have increased by 3.3%, says the company, except for these factors: the move of a talk format in Knoxville as an LMA ended and the non-renewal of the Oakland Raiders football contract.” The Knoxville billings drop (the difference WNOX verses what WOKI now bills & revenue lost when they yanked the "True Oldie Network") must be rather large or it would not have been mentioned in the quarterly report, before the loss of Raider Football, which is a top 10 market product. EDITDA was up 28% but those two items could not have that much of an effect.

Earnings would have been up even more than that if they had a winning Powerball ticket.

Oakland Raiders games were heard in Knoxville? Either it's an April Fool's gag, or somebody must have been drinking the same water I was drinking when I started a post on the Pittsburgh board about the Steelers re-upping with WDVE and I mistakenly referred to them as "the silver and black" (of course, I meant black and yellow)... ::)

I am sorry I figured that the readers of this site would know the K'ville is not a top ten market

"before the loss of Raider Football, which is a top 10 market product."

Maybe I should have stated West Coast, but the title did get you to read the topic. I still wonder about the dollars that the LMA generated for Citadel, for it to make the quarterly report. At least somebody at Citadel could find the lack of bank deposits even if they could not find Knoxville on a map!

It definitely had to make a dent to make the report.

I still love the 'woulda' aspect of secondchoice's post. Much like I woulda celebrated my 40th anniversary with Raquel Welch had I met her long ago and got her to say yes to my proposal. And I woulda had a decent retirement if Citadel hadn't messed over the stock in my retirement account.

There is a lot of kids around here that wear those black Raiders jackets and baggy pants hanging half off their butts! :-[

So the Raiders really had an affiliate in Knoxville?

No. Citadel out west dropped their status as the flagship stations for the Raiders and quit producing the broadcasts for them.

Apparently there are some companies that even The Raiders don't want to associate with.
