The Oasis is Offline (Temporarily!)

The Oasis is Offline (Temporarily!)

Dear Oasis Online Listener:

Good news and bad news. The good news: smoothjazz1075.com is one of the most listened to streams in America! The bad news: So many new listeners have logged into our stream that our server crashed! More good news, though: We have ordered more bandwidth and will return soon. And of course we’ll let you know immediately when we do.

In the mean time, even MORE good news! You can now hear all the smooth jazz you love on FM again! The all new Sunday Jazz Brunch airs every Sunday from 8:30am to noon on 103.7 Lite FM with your host Tempie Lindsey. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

The Oasis Online Staff

The bigger question is..."who cares?" Jeff you seem to be the only one who cares about smoothjazz,no one else does. Its boring with a capital "B"

As "Smokey" would say "I second that emotion"...

actually i dont like smooth jazz either......
the only reason i was gunna play it is because no one else does.
But now i play oldies. Something that also is missing here in DFW

I CARE AND MY WIFE CARES !!

It isn't boring, IF, done with the right programming. As I've said time and time again on this forum, if The Oasis came back; I'd like to see it in its 106.1 format, instead of the 107.5 format. There was more, true, smooth jazz on 106.1 than what 107.5 was playing. I miss it no matter what format though.

You're new here, so I don't know your tastes that well.

But... what is BORING to me is Rock music -- as aired on Dallas Rock radio stations of all stripes !

I do, however enjoy smooth jazz, as long as it's not too repetitive or Geroge Benson crazy!!

They mean, one of the most listened to CBS Radio streams in America. I have a feeling there's a big, BIG difference between the listenerships for CBS's streams, and that actual "most listened to" streams in America.

While you might be right about popularity, CBS' new play.it Radio Player is an order of magnitude nicer than any other in-browser radio player out there. Clear Channel's player is okay, while StreamAudio, which is used by Cox, Salem, and Cumulus (Susquehanna) is an abortion.

CBS' new player works perfectly in every browser on every platform, because it uses Flash instead of Windows Media or Real Player. And it sounds great too.

I would guesstimate my online listening to CBS' stations has increased no less than 500% since they launched the new player. It's that good.

I agree the Rock music played on DFW stations is boring, repetitive, and with no memorable lyrical content worth a damn. Smooth jazz if it was popular would still be here, and it can put Nytol out of business if it had staying power. It seems though only one person moans, and moans, and groans about smooth jazz, while no one else does. its okay to go into mourning when it was taken off and but geez its almost 2 years now, still One person posts about it. its over..kaput..ghandi..adios..

KEGL rocks! :p That rock station is not boring.

Perhaphs not in segments.....

But taken as a whole.... yes KEGL is Boring..... they still play the same tired old songs, and that, mixed with fresh new songs... negates the advatages... and leaves you with a station that overall, is not Great. But, if want to call a half-baked dish excellent, then that's your illusion.

Use your illusion. :)

Okay, I agree that the Eagle has its moments when it comes to music. But the L&T morning show, IMHO, is absolutely, positively boring. It lacks momentum, there's not much that's really topical and there's no compelling reason for 97.1 not to rock out in morning drive!

The Social Engineers that have oversight of such things don't think that rockin' out in the morning on your way to w-o-r-k, would be appropriate.

Why.... I wouldn't know....

Really wouldn't EVER want to get inside their heads!!!
