The Oasis on-line

So, I'm sitting in my office today and decide to listen to Smooth Jazz (formerly 107.5) The Oasis on-line.

Ahhhhh, what a pleasant experience. I sure miss that station. Movin REALLY sucks on that frequency.

So who is paying for this on-line service ???? No commercials at all, just smooth jazz, all-day long. :)

It is 107.5 HD-2. The HD stations don't have commercials to my knowledge. Here is the CC HD-2 stations
Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX
KZPS-FM - Lone Star Radio
KDMX-FM - The Summit
KDGE-FM - Cutting Edge
KHKS-FM - PRIDE Radio
KEGL-FM - Hispanic AC

It's really too bad those radio ho's, known as consultants, don't bother reading these posts more often. What's that they say about ratios? For every one complaint, one thousand listeners are represented; for every one letter, ten thousand?! Hmmm... how many times do people talk about MoVin needs to keep on MOVIN the heck out of DFW and the Oasis should find another shore in our market.

eh, what do I know?!

I am no consultant (Thank God!) but what CBS should do is put The Oasis back on 107.5 and MOViN on the HD-2 station. Their target demo is more likely to run out and buy HD radios. Not only did the Oasis have a great TSL (time spent listening) every time I got put on hold anywhere locally I was listening to the Oasis. LA just gotheir one Country FM back maybe the same thing will happen here with SJ. I think we are the only top ten market without Smooth Jazz except for Puerto Rico (maybe Boston too?). Smooth Jazz is the #1 station in San Diego. I thought San Diego, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth were smooth jazz "hubs". A couple years back the smooth jazz awards were even held at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. Go figure.

Whoever is running (or should I say ruining) CBS Radio in Dallas, that should be MOVIN' out of the Metroplex. They have trashed enough stations over the past several years. I guess they didn't learn from the CHR/Rhythmic experience on 100.3 FM. Do they think it's going to do any better at 107.5?! I've listened briefly to this format, it's all over the place. What demos are they trying to go after?! If they think that crap can compete with K104, THE BEAT, or KISS-FM, they are sadly mistaken.

THE OASIS suffered after PD Maxine Todd left to come here to Houston. All they needed was someone who had a clue about Smooth Jazz to take over and "tweak" the format. Maybe if Smooth Jazz stations played a little more "Jazz" and a little less AC/Urban AC, they might do a little better. Anyway you look at it, it is another fumble by CBS Radio Management in DFW. They haven't ruined KLUV, KRLD, or KLLI yet, but I'm sure they are on the radar.

Yes, I LOVED The Oasis, as if you didn't know already, by now. :)

But as many people in many threads previous have mentioned, the station, to me, was even better when it was at 106.1. They truly played more smooth jazz than they did at 107.5.

I don't consider Phil Collins and Gerry Rafferty to be "smooth jazz" artist at all. 106.1 used to play some really cool songs that I had never heard of before. One is by Level 42 called "Sleepwalkers" and I love that song, it is on my Ipod. There was also a German group called Horizont and they also were played at 106.1. Heck, they also played some Chet Atkins jazz music as well.

This format just HAS to come back to DFW. Movin SUCKS more and more each day. If the idiots at CBS radio had ANY brains at all, they would realize that, ASAP !!

For those expecting CBS to flip Movin back to Smooth Jazz, this dedication goes out to 'y'all, here's Aerosmith, Dream On...

And one important thing to remember, Movin is bound to draw a younger dmeographic than Smooth Jazz. chances are CBS can get lower ratings and still bill more...

You guys can talk all you want about how you hate the format, but it's a buisness. And the buisness side tells us that younger demos are easier to sell.

Don't take my word for it. Get a Miller-Kaplan report. Check out station billing. And compare that to the ratings. Funny how the top billers are NOT the top rated stations in the market.

I'd bet that Movin can get half to 2/3rds of The Oasis's ratings and bill just as much...With a lot less headache, heartache and stress on the sellers...

Snoman,

I beg to differ. CBS HAS ruined KRLD. They ran off Jerry Bobo. Ran off many good reporters/anchors. Hire sub par talk talent. Their current ratings are some of the lowest they've had in recent years. However i DO like Charlie Jones Overnight. But they need to lose those god awful heavy metal bumper songs!

I guess you could go to www.KHJZ.com and listen to Maxine's station online. It does have some commercials and of course PSAs and promos to cover the spots that are on the air.

Little 1 is right. I just know The Ticket outbills K104 2 to 1.
Movin is okay if you like that type of music. They could increase the songs and decrease the frequency in the rotation. A couple of weekends ago I did hear that Fergie song 3 times in about a hour and a half.
