The one's who don't get reconized...

You read about the same ol' people winning awards in CCM Radio. I've had a chance to listen to some of their airchecks from hisair.net...I really don't think they are all that great.

Who do YOU think should be reconized in the CCM Radio industry for their work?

It's not so much the "Best" that get recognized. It's the ones who know how to market themselves to the industry the best.

Not to downplay the fact that the stations who win are good stations, but they're not astronomically above everyone else. They just know how to hit the right buttons when it comes to winning awards.

Radio U in Columbus, Shine.fm in Chicago, The Joy Fm in Sarasota, KXOJ Tulsa, The Fish Los Angeles, & Way FM Grand Rapids.

Good question....for a long time now, I've been thinking "The Joy FM" doesn't get as much talking about as it deserves.

But, on the other hand, the ones that do get talked about so much generally do deserve it -- what's making them different and setting them apart are, in fact, the little things...the subtle things. Or, at least, seemingly subtle things. Those things make all the difference.

And I say that despite the fact that some of those things make listening significantly less pleasant for me. The stations that I (and, may I assume, we) tend to like to listen to are often stations that are underperforming their true potential specifically because they're doing things that I (we) like, myself (ourselves).

But all that has to do just with what's on the air; the ones that are frequently talked about have a lot on the ball off the air, as well, and all that, too, makes a big difference.

I agree that The Joy FM has flown under the radar... so has Shine.FM in Chicago for CHR. I would also throw KLRC in Arkansas, and WBGL in IL in that group too.

def kudos to WAYG in Grand Rapids for their Christian CHR format... unlike a lot of Christian CHR which are close to Christian AC's WAYG stands out and targets those looking for a alternative.

WAY FM Grand Rapids has killer numbers with teens in the market too. They are usually top 5 and thier signal only covers a couple counties in Grand Rapids.
