Mom Ol' Yeller is my dog, I'll shoot it. Brian Philips vision is dead. Was it dead before or now. You can't hang all of this on Cumulus. Sebastian might be able to get some marketing - But the image is tarnished.

Brian Phillips was/is a brilliant programmer. Had he stayed at the Wolf I'm certain he would have re-invented his vision 5-6 times by now and the Wolf would still be getting great numbers. The Ford Taurus was the best-selling car in America in the 90s and look where it (isn't) now.

I bet you're right. Is there a single PD left in this town who built a Dallas station from nothing and led it to the top?

All the current success stories are inherited. Aren't they?

Kidd's KISS. The Ticket. KKDA. WBAP. The major players who are always at the top of their demos seem to benefit from talent and images that were in place before today's PD's arrived.

I agree!

Look at the Wolf in Denver compared to the Wolf in san Francisco. Perfect example of Good radio Wolf versuses Bad Radio Wolf. Even day and night difference on Websites.

I think The Wolf in Dallas can be saved. It's still by far a better sounding station that most in DFW. Cumulus has to get back to fun creative personality jocks, none of the 15 year old slumber party bs on overnights, or a morning man that sounds like a too edited vox pro jock or a night joc doing silly games at night. Just communicate! No canned shit that goes on for two minutes!!

I have never listened to "THE WOLF". When I lived up in Northeast Texas, it was 99 1/2 KPLX, and I always thought it and KSCS were decent Country stations. Looking at its playlist since becoming "THE WOLF", it seems like they have picked up where "Young Country 105.3" has left off.

Now that Cumulus owns it, there's no telling what will happen to it, but rest assured, it will be a cheaper, more homogenized "Wolf". Sebastian's track record is pretty good.

True, except for WBAP. Tyler Cox is the man who transitioned WBAP from country-talk to news-talk without skipping a beat in the ratings and he's back home where he belongs now.

FYI - Denver station is KWLI (Willie 925) Not a Wolf. Sacramento is a market with a Wolf clone that is terrible.

We bought Thomson's Wolf jingle package for our station but call it "Monster Hits Gila1019. Gila (with an "H") not only the name of the lizard but our county. Before buying the package I listened to the KPLX stream Horrible, same commercials over and over. Not a rebroadcast. Phoenix KMLE also bought the package. It's a great package, we stream www.gila1019.com

Need to do a correction Jimmy....KWLI is now 92.5 The Wolf. They changed from Willie and a classic leaning country to a current based howler a few months ago. Trying to take on KYGO at their own game - first trend of the Winter book show KYGO basically flat 12+ while the Wolf add a point.

In the case of WBAP Tyler Cox who built the new talk power at 820 has returned so in that case the architect is in place after stops at places like Memories, KRLD and Salem. FWIW.

Yep Tyler Cox, the one WBAP owes a lot to. Bob Shomper took over from Tyler and actually rode Tyler's success, while straining morale among the troops. He's in Chicago now at last report.

Here is my prediction. Especially considering yesterday's trend, John Sebastion will have Cumulus's blessing to overhaul the station. He will make it sound pretty similar to WOLF/Nashville (and other country stations he has programmed such as the old KZLA/LA). A no hype "respect the music" approach with no personality outside AM drive, one classic rock song per hour (with some country flavor) etc.

The new WOLF will get a lot of criticism on this board. WOLF/Nashville and JS got a ton of negative comments on the Nashville board. Yet,To the shock of everyone the ratings did go up (and up big),just like they will go up in Dallas. they don't call him the "turn around king" for nothing.

Yes once he turns a station around he has a long history (going back several decades) of movng on to his next challenge. The next PD will have to carry the momentum which isn't always easy, as others have mentioned the surprizes are over by the time he leaves the building.
