The Origins of Big 14 GVL

After some research I now know where The Big 14 came from!

KQV 1410 Pittsburgh

Station Name as Top 40: The Big 14
Morning Show Name: The Breakfast Club

Who was at KQV during this time period?
Chuck Brinkman.

The Big 14 KQV
The Big 14 GVL

It looks like Chuck had some parts of KQV placed into KGVL.
Pretty cool if you ask me!

Chuck was, indeed, at 14 KQV at that time. They went through a few different identifiers....'The Big 14', 'Fun-Lovin' KQV, Audio 14'. etc. As a child, I listened with rapt attention to everything they did. During the day, it was the only game in town, with few exceptions. However, I understand that Jaan McCoy came up with the 'Big 14GVL' moniker, independently of CB's input.

Thats pretty interesting, I wonder if Jaan McCoy was thinking of KQV and Chuck's connection when he thought of the name?

Doubtful. The more likely inspiration would probably be 'The Big 8', CKLW.
