I was listening to WEEI Thursday and a caller was on the phone with a tinny sounding connection. Michael Holley asked the caller if he was on a speaker phone; the caller said no and then went silent. About 5-8 seconds later the programming came back on with Holley saying "that's why you need Verizon, not those guys". Is it safe to assume the producer muted content that mentioned a non-advertiser? And what are your thoughts if that is the case?
 
Ehhh...could be the guy just said something like "No, it's just this f**king useless Vonage phone". In which case it's not that it's a Vonage phone (or whoever...could be Comcast, too) but more that that one of the seven dirty words was uttered.

I assume the show is using a delay of some kind, anyone know what make & model it is? That would help a lot in determining whether the dropout was typical or not.
 
Last time I heard them actually dump out, I'm pretty sure there was a quick dead air moment.
 
the guy panned a client, or used one of the 7 words, causing the producer to hit the dump button
 
Totally legal. I hope no one goes off on a misguided "censorship" rant.
 
I really don't think the caller said anything improper. Whenever that happens, you can usually tell when the audio comes back because a host will be saying something to the effect of "that's not right" etc. And the caller has been blown up. This caller remained on air and the conversation was normal.
