THE PARTY IS ABOUT TO BE OVER

92.3 & 101.1 is dropping the Party Format for something else on Wed 11-28-07.
What will it be??? My guess is something we've all heard a million times before...
The Party would have worked if it had been programmed properly but it fell into the same old crap over and over trap that most all stations seem to fall into. Next Media has some talented folks over there but will they be showcased like they should be??? We shall see........

Way too early to give up on this. Zero promotion ensured this station would be a failure from the start, but IMO it's not too late to save the ship. Has this thing even been on the air 6 months?!

This station could have been huge. The are so many cool things that could have been done with this format. Its potential was through the roof but again there was no agressive outside the box thinking programming or promotions wise so it got lost in the shuffle like so many do. I'm no genius but this format should not die and you can't program it like a CHR.Maybe someone else will do this format
and do it right.... Hey, I can dream can't I????

Awhile back, i posted on this site that those stations would change, especially
after the dismal numbers they posted in the last ratings period, and even though
Wilmington is still into the fall book, when the numbers come out in early 2008
they would have made no difference.
I think NextMedia will probably try the "Urban AC" format similar to "Foxy
107/104" in the Raleigh/Durham market.
We shall see...

Listening this afternoon heard the "Micheal Banks Show"? (is that right)

Lots of talk...not much in the way of tunes....and all the ones they did play sounded like new Prince stuff

Next Media sure does give formats time, huh?

The Beat- The Party- Now the Torch

Kool- Lite- Will

shall I go on?

The format is The Touch-from ABC radio, mostly current & classic R&B, not new Prince stuff, though Prince does have new stuff.

The afternoon guy is Micheal Baisden.

How to save money in 3 easy steps or less.... satellite format.. I will be damn!!!!
Basdon is on Foxy in Raleigh. Its like a guy trying to be Oprah on the radio. Mornings or nights live and local???? Any live or local??Just like I said Its gonna be the same old thing... Is anybody ever gonna do anything different??? Satellite format... Good luck boys and girls. Beasley is the only group that gets it at all.. You know how to become a millionaire in radio??? Start out as a billionaire.....

Sounds like all satellite all the time.I'm already hearing that satellite sound..
dead air, awkward pauses.Late returns... Hpefully they'll get the bugs out so they can begin the process of staying lost in the shuffle.Such a shame...

Poor Gina Gray. She hadn't been gone from Thunder Country 6 months and now they change the formats on her.

Also Fox Feltman and Crystal came from the old Hot FM at 96.3/103.7.

Wonder where they will all end up?

I Understand they are also carrying "The Steve Harvey Show" in the mornings...
In addition, as a member of the ABC Radio Network's "The Touch" format, there website indicates some
other "urban" music will air on weekends like "Solid Gold" Sunday, some Inspirational Music Sunday Mornings,
a mix show on Friday and Saturday Nights, and some Blues.
If the NextMedia Group in the Greenville/Washington/New Bern market can market this right, this format
might do alright, but most listeners up there are used to "Kiss 102" WIKS, but the urban audience now has
a choice, and the same applies to parts of the Wilmington market that 92.3 WQSL serves.

Is this all a dying last ditch effor before a sale? Is there really a market that will listen and to get revenue to support it? They keep bouncing :) I wish them the best

i think this is an effort to take a few points away from Kiss to make WRNS #1 again..First of all it probably won't... Second that in a nutshell is one of the many problems with a corporation owning multiple stations in a market. Instead of a station being the best it can be as an individual station, it is there to run interference for another station in the chain..... Very sad.... A terrible way to treat
a decent signal in my opinion. By the way Gina is simply moving over to Bob 93.3 which is great for BOB. She is an amazing talent and a real sweetheart. That is a great move because Bob needs Gina.....

Allen

Hollywood currently works afternoons. Is he leaving or giving up the chair to focus on PD duties?

Not sure I really don't listen to Bob much but they are making room for her as they should and I believe I heard she will do afternoons. Its so funny she is back on BOB after she went through so much a few years ago_One thing about this business you never say never. It is a wierd business.I haven't talked to Gina in a while but she will certainly make BOB a better station and make it more listenable for adults..
