The party is "over"

Why would WOAI even think of going to FM? AM has 10 times the reception a FM would.

Because of the growing popularity of news/talk/sports stations on FM.

Take a look at Houston's FM 92 which dumped Gospel to News.

Merlin Media's 101.1 in Chicago flipped from Rock to Talk.

Also due to the fact a lot of listeners have abandoned the AM frequency. Some radios are now built without AM Radio such as the portable Insignia HD Radio. There is a lot of interference on AM radio even on AM 1200.

97.7 would be a great signal for WOAI FM. Esp. if you take the stereo pilot signal off it.

You don't get it.

Explain to me then, The big talker 98.9 did nothing in Austin 104.3 the coyote did little. Why would WOAI try FM also? They got a LOT better coverage on AM. plus in HD.

It's a matter of going where the listeners are. Think of all the times you've scanned or seeked up and down the FM dial to see what else is on. And sometimes you'll find something interesting and listen awhile. You never get to sample WOAI that way. You have to change bands to find them. A lot of people don't go to the trouble.

That is because they weren't a simulcast of a station that has been around for years and has a loyal following. I don't think you can compare those stations to WOAI which is News Sports and Talk. KRPT is not doing that well. They are only conservative talk and not much else like the Big Talker was.
