The Party Zone on 101.3 KDWB-HD2 is gone

nd2023

I recently had a layover at the Minneapolis airport, and checked out 101.3-HD2 over there, and to my disappointment, the HD2 was not there anymore, only an HD1. In fact, the reason I chose a flight that connected at the MSP airport was because I wanted to listen to this station which didn't stream online. Then I looked at KDWB's Facebook page and noticed that someone complained that The Party Zone was gone, and the station acknowledged that it was.

The fact that my ex girlfriend lives in Minneapolis and KDWB-HD2 is gone are enough reasons for me to not visit Minneapolis anymore.

Minneapolis has become all about the wub a dub dub crap.

For music stations, the minneapolis market is this:

Classic-based rock on 92.5 and 93.7
Whitebread hits on 94.5, 97.1 and 101.3
Country on 102.1 and 102.9
Variety hits on 96.3 and 104.1

That's it!

By far the most under-radioed and un-eclectic major market FM dial in the nation. There is not a close second. There aren't even any HD2 translator stations.

KDWB-HD2 used to simulcast on analog translator 102.5. But I only heard KDWB decode in HD with an HD1. No HD2 anymore.

The IDs might have said 102.5, but they were never on 102.5. 102.5 is one of the frequencies going through "red tape" from two opposing groups to a series of applications Clear Channel had filed to move translators into Minneapolis. The only translator relaying anything HD in Mpls is at 103.5 which is relaying the HD of KFXN 100.3, which relays AM 1130.

Well its sad to see any Dance station be gone,,, But it is what It is I guess.... I consider HD-2s kinda irrelevant though,,, Hardly anyone has an HD radio,, me included,,, I do enjoy Aea 95.5 in DC and Energy 95.7 in Houston and the B96 Chicago hd-2,,, But I think the HD stations need to do more for online listeners at this point in time,,,, and honestly I don't see HD ever going anywhere
