wow. this whole thing is in the crapper.

a new book comes out and there are no comments about it on here.

a lame post by gerry v that bears no facts about New Orleans radio gets 20 replies. (Luv ya gerry, just making a point)

another post is a guy looking for don banks. duh, don is on here quite a bit, not too hard to find.

then there is the guy who continues to go after k wlkerson for some odd reason.

could this board suck anymore? i had not been on in months but i see little has changed.

does ANYONE have any comments about the new book or any info about anything happening in radio????????
 
The guy looking for Don referenced back to a fan site for another air talent asking where the fat man was.

Truthfully the only interesting thing has been about the translator being bought by Clear Channel and about 105.9 as it made a leaps and bounds jump in the book (both touched and retouched actually in radio-info's own newsletters)

On the books, WRNO is now within 1 of WWL, mainly on the back of Rush and Hannity, However people just outside the metro complain about straining to hear WRNO compared to WWL-AM

Clear Channel proves that Vting basically the whole station, people are still that hungry for Country

And Citadel needs apparently to work on 92.3... That station hasn't really broken a 2 since the Diva beginnings and hasn't been a ratings star in probably 10 years
 
I wasn't "going after" Kenny Wilkerson. Merely informing people that he was on for another hour. Trust me, Wilkerson is one of the few reasons to listen to WGSO.

The "Ratings" are the same old, same old. Q and WYLD on top. WNOE in the dumper. WRNO riding the Beck/Rush/Sean gravy train with no numbers for their "local" hosts. Diva never breaking a 2. WGSO getting no numbers; WIST barely above WGSO.

What else is there to talk about ratings wise?

If you want to say the board is pathetic, why don't you contribute?
 
i wasn't saying that you went after Kenny. That nedryserson fellow never says anything but negative stuff about kenny.

The big story is obviously WRNO. I am really surpised at their jump.
 
macroni2 I understand what you mean. and you are correct. The life has left the board. I first came on to have a lil fun and say "hello" passion must be a part of radio.....wanna have fun folks ?: how bout the Talk Radio War vs WWL.....WRNO wins in the People 25-54 and men 25 54 in the Spring book.
What makes for a great talk show ? The Host or the Callers ? Do you have to agree with a Host to like the show or isit the style and delivery of the host that keeps you tuned in ?.....I believe a boring call kills a segement......Whats going on with talk radio in the market ? Competition is the dance of excellence. Competition keeps ya sharp !

Do you listen to local talk or the endless options on SATRADIO ( 250 stations ).....What can TALK RADIO do to keep you " alive and kickin ?"
A host should be fearless ! Passion ! Be yourself and don't fake it ! Never fake an opinion just to provoke callers !
OK folks you should be warmed up now !! Let the conversations begin ! Also lets not fool around here. The truth is a stations goal is to crush the other station....smaller stations should look to bottom feed or bleed the "big dogs" of some of the market share......ITS COMPETITION ! The truth is you want your show to be the show people want to listen to......You can't expect all people to like you....I follow the 50/50 rule..... its a business of winning.

Prepare and compete ! Settle for boring radio and thats what you will get....... OK your turn !

The "Bigger" story is that, without AM and PM Drive bringing down WRNO, they would be beating WWL. I can't quote the numbers here, but, when you look at the dayparts, WWL destroys WRNO in AM and PM Drive. WRNO wins with Rush and Hannity and is competitive with Beck.

If WRNO wasn't dragged down by Castner and Osterlind, they would be the Talk Champ.

Gerry V is correct on the 25-54 numbers, but without Rush and Hannity and even Beck, WRNO wouldn't get an agency buy 25-54. Nobody buys the #7 station (my estimate) in a demo anymore.



V-Man, love your show. You are the only entertaining host on WRNO. Castner and Osterlind have ZERO credibility and will continue to have ZERO success. You bring up competition. Until WRNO gets smart and cuts Castner and Osterlind and hires LOCAL HOSTS THAT KNOW THE MARKET, there will be no Talk Radio competition. Oh sure, WRNO might beat WWL 12+ or even 25-54 for a book, but not longterm.
 
My point is TALK RADIO thrives with competition. It is personality driven and it is a format that plays a vital role in the city and region. Its about "trying to beat the other guy" Some folks are afraid to say that. New Orleans is lucky to have two big signals in the market engaging in talk radio. The smaller stations can also play a role. They can erode the " big dogs" market share by stealing even small numbers.

I agree this board has gotten boring. Engage with some good topics ( yeah i have posted a mundane topic or two...guilty as charged...some just to get a giggle)....I'd like to see more competition among the TV and radio shows......folks at all stations sprint to the books when the #'s come out ( thats a good thing)

WRNO has come a long way. Credit must be given. A Talk Radio battle is good for the city and the audience........one day again maybe we get a Sportstalk battle going again......Sports is HUGE in this region.......I don't think the BOBBY & DEKE want to see that happen...( two very nice guys by the way).....]but I would bleed them with a thousand cuts !!![/[/i]move] ....Blunt wins in todays world. xoxoxo V
 
Liz Reyes is buying time like almost everyone else on WGSO. She has a terrible web site. On that vast wasteland that is is WGSO nobody will hear her at 1pm on Saturdays so, we'll probably never know if she has talent. There are always podcasts though.

Glad she's staying in NO. Hope she finds another gig.
 
For some talk radio is a difficult gig. She belongs on TV. One hour a week will not be enough time for her to develop her "talk radio chops" I am also glad she is still in New orleans and hope he lands back on TV.I dont know why she was let go but hope she hangs tough with it and gets a break. Don't know what her style will be on talk radio since its a different animal vs tv news talk......wishing her the best .
 
WOW! There is life and discussion! I will post about the previous comments later as they are all very interesting. In a hurry right now but I have to say, V MAN-your one cool f---ing dude.

thats brooklyn/queens my good man the yanks do play in the bronx so you're not all wrong....now excuse me as i'm soaking in a tub having a cigar ,sipping some serious wine and listening to some sinatra tunes.. ( building the mood)

hmm....win every daypart except 6a-10 and 3p-7p...is that what wrno did? win 6a-12m overall?

i saw the full page gambit ad. pretty impressive considering a year ago they had awful numbers. clancy is always yappin' on wwl. maybe he will start poppin upon wrno?

kudos, it does make things interesting. v----your right, both stations should thrive off the competition.

what a book! how about Power 102.9 v Q93???? is that where the numbers went for everybody else???? to wrno and the urbans??? how do the urbans almost always go up? even first book after Katrina they were still rollin along like nobodies business.

we need more shakeups. any format flip rumors?????
