The Patriot in western Maine

Driving through Poland Maine on Route 26 today, I picked up "The Patriot" on fm 96.9. Very bad signal.I got part of the Legal ID WEZR Rumford and a mention of 98.3.Guessing it's probobly WPNO 1450 & WEZR 780 with their translators.

Yep, 96.9 is a WPNO translator, and it only covers Poland with 50 dbu, although that should be good enough to receive a reasonable signal in a car radio.

50 dbu is pretty borderline even in car radios. Some will, some won't and driving around will show flutters and brief disappearances of the signal... the average person likely will not find this attractive.
