The Pete Sheppard Era on WCAP-AM Begins

OK, Pete Sheppard is in fact broadcasting on WCAP-AM 980 in Lowell after a week's delay. The second-to-last song played on the station before his show started was "In the boondocks" (I'm not making that up). Remember: Shep is going from a 50K station in Boston to a dubious 5K station in Lowell. I'm listening online since I'm not near their transmitter, so I don't know how much signal they're throwing out.
 
Word from within is that they are using the small Bauer transmitter which can do about 950 watts (on a good day). Can barely hear them in Billerica or Carlisle during the day...... I hope they're not charging Pete the "full power" price.
 
Is that 950 watts being run using the directional array or non-directional during the day? If so, is WCAP reducing power to be nondirectional at night? When they broadcast from Dracut, they were limited to 109 watts from a single tower from 6:00 am until local sunrise in the fall, winter and early spring. Now, the towers are closer to Niskayuna, NY.
