THE PILE AT THE END OF THE DIAL

Any idea of which airbag from the past Thee End will resuscitate to save the station?

Talk to me People

Jim Keller is their only hope. He is like a wedding dress.....something old (KJET), something borrowed (Resurrection Sunday).....you get the drift.

I was in love with The End in '91. Why did they quit interspersing the new junk (White Stripes, et al) with New Wave from the 80s. It was a winning formula.

The End is a sinking ship. End of story. It's sad, but it's true. There isn't a thing that can save that station with Jerry at the helm of Entercom Seattle.

Have any of you listened to the station lately? I moved here about 1.5 years ago from Portland. I've missed "KINK" and 94/7 ever since. However, with the new PD, it seems that 107.7 is on the rebound. They have air talent, music, music and more MUSIC from the 90s through now. Yes, I would really like "Resurrection Flashback Sunday" back for my Sunday morning newspaper read and coffee - but I guess it's not going to happen. The acoustic thing is okay, except that KMTT is also doing it at that time.

It finally seems that KNDD is no longer going to have to be a "Flanker" for KISW. Now if it would just air music in the mornings... but Carolla's popular. Just not with me.

You've been here 1.5 years - understood, with that said, the new the PD isn't doing anything groundbreaking that Thee End didn't try a few years back and had the plug pulled after about a year or so of having "air talent(Keller,Rosetti,Jennifer White & No Name,Andy Harms),music, music and more MUSIC."

What if they "were on the rebound", does the 'End Faithful' exist anymore to care about said 'rebound'?

Just askin'...

I grew up with THE END but must admit I rarely listen any longer. Carolla is not my deal and his numbers are not very good in comparison to the other morning options in Seattle. The END was THE place for new alternative music in the early nineties. The Internet, song sharing and other options are THE place for new music.

KROQ is the direction the END needs to go. Killers, Offspring, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and even Metallica. Sure it infringes on KISW but they are two different stations. Modern Rock compared to Active Rock. Biggest Bands Weekends are the stable of KROQ. Red Hot Chili Peppers was last week and was cool. The last thing I would add would be local talent. Rivers, Shea are all talk and are good options for guys. THE END needs to be about the music, even in mornings, with hosts that add to the local music and key in on events. Local and about the music.

The station should be driven by the core sounds of the early nineties with bands of today that are similar. The appeal is 25-44 and maybe younger at night. What do I know, I am in sales. I can tell you right now the station is not a player in any significant demo.

Try Entercom sister station to our south, it's more 'mixed' during the day with great local air staff from morning through night (nights were gone for a while but are back) - they air more 80s alt. cuts and of course core artists of the format all day... then throw in the "harder" new tracks at night. It is a station that makes the point "We're all about music, and we're all about being your local alternative, Portland." No registration is required to listen online anymore.

Interesting, 94 albums in 94 days is a current on-air feature - it reminds me of KEXP's current "900 best" voted on by the listeners going on right now.

If Jim Keller is The End's only hope right now, they might as well start simulcasting the red zone/white zone parking announcements at Sea-Tac Airport.

I miss KROQ, but mostly because of their on-air talent, not because of the music. KROQ and The End have similar formats...if we could only get Kevin and Bean syndicated here in Seattle.

I wish The End put someone on the afternoons who was funny and topical. Even though I wasn't a big fan of Lazlo, I liked that type of afternoon schtick.

I agree. It was better on the End With Lazlo...

And I grew up listening to The End as well. Blow the damn thing up already and make it KBRD - Just Beautiful Music..

To be honestly, I haven't- listened to the radio since I was not on it, save for my dear friend Steve on the BeeJay Shay show, I check to see how he is doing, he's is good people and talented and a great rock/roll drummer! Did I mention that we meet atthe Northlake pizza-The other day i went into the basement where and pulled the earsets back, on and opened the mike and did a 'break', and it felt really really really good!!! I saw Billy Reed in may, maybe i can invite the other fallen stars to the basemtn and we can do radio breaks without criticism.
i'm putting the 'u dont know dick' theme song on a cd!! here's what i played onmy show

sunscreen song by the dude
rollin by limp biscuit
plane white tease
soul to squeeze

I've worried a lot about The End. I listen from time to time and the music is OK (though Fall Out Boy and Snow Patrol are far from the general idea of "cutting edge" these days.) It's just the personality that the End lacks.

BUT on the other paw, be careful what you wish for. Remember when KJET went oldies KQUL and there was NO modern rock radio in Seattle? (KCMU was on a heavy world music trip at the time, which is great in it's own right, but doesn't quite count as "modern rock"....)

And for the poster 2nd previous: KBRD is now the calls of a nostalgia station in Olympia....

Is this Jerry McKenny(sp)? hasn't been posted before that he's the gobbler that sunk everything?
