I dont think Univision will buy this station. Besides, when La Tremenda (1010 AM) is not doing the news or airing shows, they play similar music that La preciosa plays, old rancheras.

I dont think Univision will buy this station. Besides, when La Tremenda (1010 AM) is not doing the news or airing shows, they play similar music that La preciosa plays, old rancheras.

They have flipped KEGL and a San Diego station to "La Preciosa"-A station Network that plays mostly old mexican ballads. I believe there's another station that does play this similar music-That would be El Concierto (101.7), which can be heard in Bay City. I wish Liberman would boost its power.

Only scenario I could see: Cox sells 106.9 to Univision in order to raise cash for buying KRBE. Then Univision moves KQBU to 106.9. Univision then sells 93.3 to...(take your pick.) However, I think Cox would go after KRBE without spinning off an existing Houston property.

I believe '80s Music is quite frankly dead-for now. All we ever want is a bigger variety of music-not just one decade. But from all 5 decades. From the '60s-on through the present. I think by the end of this year, Cox will dump The Point after all. That's just my own personal opinion...

For the first time in history, MTV's VMA's featured performers singing in Spanish. It has always always been an English speaking show.
They had a performance from reggaeton's 3 biggest stars including Don Omar and Daddy Yankee. I only mention this because it shows the popularity of the genre and the demand to better cater to the Latino audience.
The times they are a changin' and they're changing more drastically than Bob Dylan meant to forecast in the song.

If you like the music on KXGJ 101.7 Bay City, give KEYH 850 Houston a try. As of last month KXGJ was still simulcasting KEYH, and presume that KXGJ-KEYH is still simulcasing. KEYH has a tight pattern with the antenna near Pecan Grove between Hwys 6 and 99 and sends 10kW east and southeast with a signal that should easily reach the Louisiana boarder and beyond. To the west the signal is very tight to protect KONO 860 San Antonio days and KOA 850 nights.
If you live inside The Beltway you should be able to hear KEYH day and night without any interference. If KOA is not booming in, I have heard KEYH with a good nighttime signal near Cypress.
KXGJ will be sending a slightly better signal into SW Houston in a year or two. Liberman has a Construction Permit to move to a new tower about three miles closer to downtown, and will go to a full Class C1 signal, which will move the Service Grade Contour {1mV/m} from Sweeny in Brazos County to Needville in Fort Bend County.
Cox changing the point to a Spanish-language format seems unlikely with the track record Cox has for not really doing anything much with their stations. I don't think that Cox would invest the time and money necessary to change the format in their Houston cluster.
It has been rumored for over a year now that Cox was going to sell their Houston cluster. Cox either is asking an exorbitant price or it is just a rumor with no real teeth. The other question is who would buy the cluster if it is actually for sale? Would Univision or Liberman buy the cluster and sell off the rimshot stations? A corportion that has major market experience that is not currently in Houston? Infinity would be a great candidate and would only have to sell one station, most likely rimshot KTHT. Personally I would like to see Infinity buy the Cox cluster, they would run the stations 100% better than Cox and sell KTHT to Cumulus for KFNC 97.5 to move to, a station that I believe has a change at being a real player in Houston on a good frequency which 97.1 KTHT is, even though it is a rimshot station. Thoughts?
