The Point: More "More" Than 80's

Seems that lately, The Point - home of "the best of the 80's - and more" - has been focusing more on the latter recently. According to their playlist page on yes.com, eight of the top twenty songs most played on WPOI are from the 90's:

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge
2. Fastball - The Way
3. Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
4. Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence (80's)
5. The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) *
6. Seal - Crazy
7. The Cure - Friday I'm In Love
8. Tom Petty - Free Fallin (very late 80's)
9. Van Halen - Right Now
10. Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner
11. Soul Asylum - Runaway Train
12. U2 - Beautiful Day
13. U2 - Mysterious Ways
14. Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy
15. Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze Of Glory
16. R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts
17. EMF - Unbelievable
18. The Black Crowes - She Talks To Angels
19. Billy Idol - Cradle Of Love
20. U2 - One

* The song was actually produced in 1988, but was popular during the release of the 1993 film "Benny & Joon."

In fact, I can count a mere handful of 80's songs in regular rotation on The Point, compared to years ago, when it was the bulk of their playlist. Granted, about three-quarters of the remaining 80 songs on the WPOI "top 100" are still 80's songs (Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" and "Where Did Our Love Go" are credited as separate songs, lol).

By the way, there's about half a dozen Prince songs in heavy rotation, yet not a single Michael Jackson song to be found, but that's a different topic for another thread. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if their most played Michael Jackson song is Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me." Just sayin'...

They do sound better. Now they need more than 2 jocks and jingles
