The Point silenced today

"94.3 The Point" (WJLK-FM Asbury Park) was having audio problems for most of this morning and afternoon. First during the morning their modulation level was unusually low, and then when I checked again around noon they were transmitting dead air. They stayed silent for well over an hour before finally getting back in action sometime in the afternoon (I checked again on my way home from work and 94.3's audio was back to normal).

I remember 94.3 having this same kind of problem during previous summers. Their audio would go dead and usually stayed dead for quite a while until someone put on what sounded like a very simple automation system (mostly '80s music with a liner or legal ID after every song) being played through an old Optimod 8000. Then they would finally cut back to the main studio audio -- often in mid-song -- and carry on as if nothing had happened.
