Re: Define "CRAP"?

Whoops, double post for the double-speak! Anybody who thinks stations in the Prophet system are programmed at a local level has got to be someone who isn't in the business. There's a format lab that sends down all the songs you need, for instance, to be a Mix or Buzz format. Local programming decisions don't occur. Throw on a few parttimers for airstaff because you don't have the budget for quality, trick some folks with some national contesting for awhile, and boy, howdy, kick back and watch the fail. Then, you can blame the stations themselves! There's no arguing with people like The Big A, because he's too much an apologist for the inept megaconglomerate business model. I suppose rank-and-file Enron employees are the ones to blame for losing their own retirements, too, huh?

Local playlists can be authenticated and checked. Labels do it all the time to see what stations are playing. I compare playlists of co-owned stations in the same format, and I can demonstrate very clearly that adds and currents by reporting stations are not done in a central location.

Believe what you want to believe, but everything I'm saying can be authenticated on the web by anyone. And promo folks at the major labels can also substantiate.

Far as that goes, what's the definition of "crap"...or the definition of "good". It's going to vary for each individual, and even did in "the goo old days" Yes, some people listened to the screaming top 40 jocks in the 70s, and some people preferred the TM Stereo Rock automated station.

In my market (Dayton OH), CC has several successful stations. I don't know that the large crowds for Lite 99.9's Listener Appreciation Lunches, Mix 107.7's Summerfest, or X-Fest (which got cancelled by hurricane force winds this year but was sold out) would consider these stations "crap".
