"Let us not forget that the princess insisted that she couldn't work with a certain male DJ as a co-host so the powers that be moved him to 103.9, he went quietly. Finally he could stand it no more and is now doing mornings on WOOF...this is the same individual that is the best at production and can turn out excellent work faster than any other in this market. She made her boat (they let her) and tried her best to float it but then she bailed from the sinking ship leaving only the smell of the paper mill in her wake. Kelly killed the Albatross and now lives the line, "Water water everywhere and all the boards did shrink, water water everywhere and not a drop to drink". Please also observe that Prox is correctly pointing out that those most recent defenders of the castle are not defend as hard as before, as did their predecessors before that eventually turned and theirs before that turned etc etc. Wonder who's next on the Magical Mystery Tour? What pool will they be fishing for new talent" STEWY LAST POST ON WKMX THREAD
Kelly here…Yup real name and wide open for any criticism…not that I really have anything to loose. Let’s get a few things straight. First….STEWY…I mean Doug Wynne or Whine. I have had just about enough of your bitterness frankly so has everybody else. I’ll give you that you were good at selling but have you ever actually cracked a mic or better yet have you actually ever had to sit in a small room for 4 hours a day in a small space with someone else other than your utter contempt for all thing new on KMX. Answer NO! So that being said you really have no business on this board at all period. What can you offer except for glaring criticism for all things that aren’t the OLD KMX with BJ and John, Stevie, Brad, and Julie? Or whoever else worked Prior to myself, Squirrel, Bryant, Stephano, and poor baby Baker. It must really suck to sit in Scenic Cable and look up at the WTVY Building, where you were fired from, every single day! Fired not for your ability to sell, but for your lack of knowing when to keep your mouth shut especially when the investors of the company were in town or for telling your clients not to buy the New KMX. Whether it’s a poop sandwich or not your job is to sell it!
When I was asked to come on the air to be on mornings for KMX I jumped at the chance! Hell Yeah! I also was told that no one on the remaining staff would like me, none of the listeners would like me, and my co-host would most likely bare some resentment, understandably. I said, “Okay!” For Months I got up every morning and did the show I was asked to do knowing that I was standing in Shoes I would never ever fill in my wildest imagination, BJ Kelley’s. I’m not even going to get into format changes or the terrible events that surrounded BJ’s exit from Magic. Absolutely unforgettable and sad but I will get back to that. John Houston is an amazing on air talent and someone I like to call my friend. Did we get along always in the morning of course not? Did I complain that our humor was not on the same page YES and remains a joke between us today. By the time Management decided to put Squirrel in with Me, John and I were finding our groove. Squirrel was a great partner again as with all arranged marriages they have their moments and we certainly had ours. But I loved him no matter what good or bad. That is what a morning show partnership is about. Take the good with the bad and you make it work….but you have to above all else have CHEMISTRY! With out it you can hang it up! So for about 2 years Squirrel and I busted our butt on a litany of “Failures” that Doug could tell you all about and got the numbers up where they were supposed to be for OUR DEMO….not the money demo, not the 25-45 Men and Women that everyone and their grandmother is shooting for….and if that is the case then why not have everyone do the exact same format….ANYWAY! Our Demo was 18-34 Female and we smoked everyone! Backwards, forwards, upside down you can twist the numbers anyway you want and there they are. #1! In our day part for our demo and that is what Ladies and Gentlemen we were hired to do. So…that being said Squirrel spring boarded to another job in LA. If I was single with no kids I would have gone too. Sooooo along came a spider and sat down beside her….sorry quoting like STEWY….Trent. We tried no chemistry….oh well…I did everything I was supposed to do. I went to Management and told them what I thought would work….that’s right “I”…they thought differently. So here it is…..my choices….1. Stay, put up, shut up, share a laugh or two with co-workers until what? 10-15 years goes by? Only to be asked to “Come down to my Office” and shown the door regardless of the tears, sweat, time spent away from my family, hard work, hours, dedication, love and above all else the ability to be “quiet” (That is where I got back to BJ Kelley)…or ….2. Hang up the Head phones. On the date that I choose at the time that I want. I’ve got nothing but great memories, good relationships with the ones I left, and above all my pride. I’m proud that I was able to do the job I was asked to do. I’m proud that I achieved all that with limited resources. I’m excited that when I am a grandma I can say I was a Radio DJ once and tell a bunch of really cool stories. And that is pretty much it. No hard feelings, no torched bridges, just moving on down the road. Something Doug you should really try….
To all who taught me a thing or two some more than others, some more repeatedly than others, some in Good ways and some in Bad I thank you for every lesson. Love, Kelly G
