The problem I have with shows like this - whether they be on the right or the left of the political spectrum - is that they don't offer independent analysis and discussion, but rather seek to promote only one side, and target a particular demographic. That's to be expected in a commercial market (although the targeting of specific polital demographics means that the "mass" in mass communications no longer applies.) Occasionally they break the mold, but those are exceptions.

Unfortunately, many folks find serious, independent analysis and discussion boring, and so are attracted to such shows for their entertainment value. There's nothing wrong with that - the stations will argue that they are simply providing what their target listeners want. Still, I enjoy that independent perspective. <Grin>

> Jeremy you really cracked me up. Being an ex-hippy, which was a long time ago, I really appreciate your intillegent observation. I'm kind of a Bill O'Reilly woman myself. I really thank you for your response. I went to school at UW too!

Pro talk

On Monday morning local talk radio took a turn to the left with 92.1 The Mic's new "The Pro-Show."

A release describing its content calls the new morning show "pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-peace, pro-freedom ..." plus eight other pros -- you get the idea.

Program director Brian Turany says when word got out that Air America's Morning Sedition would be canceled, he asked The Mic's Lee Rayburn if was interested in hosting his own morning show. ...
