(By the way just so there isn't any confusion. I am the original Professor and have been posting on here since 2006. I have no ties to the "professor and Gilligan" crew at Pamal in Rutland.)
Now we head to Rutland....known to some as Rutville, Rut-vegas, Rut-scum. Known to me as a totally individual entity from the Upper Valley. nassau simply did that to make a market and try to gain more revenue. Which has failed, by the way. Let's get on with the fun!
Cat Country 105.3
The rest of the world knew for a few years that moving CAT to 105.3 was a no-brainer. Took the Pamal people years to catch up. I must say this new CAT Country sounds the best it has in years! Ken and Judy in the morning do a great job. The rest of the day sounds good. Many elements being done correctly here. The music seems to be right on. I think there is a little sloppiness here and there but overall a solid sound.
WJJR
I continue to be disappointed in this station. When, in God's name, will you get a real sweeper voice and not Terry Jaye voicing them? The old morning show is back and it's a yawn. Music all over the place. A very mediocre station. Thank God it has a 50kw signal or it'd be in trouble.

I have never, in all the years it's been on, thought this station was a kick-ass top 40. But I think it sounds better than many people are giving it credit for. The music is good for this area...they are obviously careful about the rap/hip hop mix in there. I think the sweeper voice is good. The jocks sound young but...hey...this is an 18-34 format so it's okay. The best CHR in the world? No...but doing an okay job. Not nearly as bad as some peopkle would have you think.
The Drive
Why is there always a mentality in a cluster that goes like this...."Well, we have 4 FM's but we can't afford to put a huge effort on all 4 so let's pick two and do a great job then put in an effort at the third. The fourth...well, we'll do what we can". And there you have The Drive. I think it should be called "Park". Bad sweepers....no passion. And well, if Uncle Dave was in my family I'd kick him out. Someone tell this guy to shut up. A waste of the signal.
WSYB
I like Brian and Jack. Yeah, it's corny at times but it's local and people seem to like it. Keeps the station relevant in the community. Tim Philbin I have never gotten. In all the years I have listened I have yet to ever hear him get a listener phone call! A whole lotta nothing there. The rest of the day is syndicated. Kudos to the local sports coverage. I'm sure many operators would like to have an AM that creates some billing like this one does.
THE FOX
Always has been a good station. I hear the original GM JG is back. Though he doesn't have the cast or owners he used to have. I'm sure a different ballgame with nassau and the station does sound much more canned than it used to. Not a bad sound,...just not as local and plugged in as it used to be. No PD in place yet from what I hear plus very other few staff members in the building. Riding on it's former glory right now. Though the music changes were a great idea and made the station sound much more fresh.
