The Programming Disputes Thread

That's odd Charter/Spectrum does not exist in the San Francisco Bay Area. But I noticed that NBC Sports Net issued a statement saying you cannot see the Golden State Warriors if you have Charter Spectrum? But wait Xfinity/Comcast the owners of NBC serve the San Francisco Bay Area. Where do I look at charter/spectrums Northern California customer base?

Charter has a system in Gilroy (Santa Clara County). It carries CSN Bay Area (which has the Warriors) but not CSN California.

From SEJ on the 506 Forums:

It looks like the Spectrum/NBCU blackout has been averted (for now). The Deliver My Shows site now says "Negotiations with Charter Spectrum for the NBCUniversal portfolio of networks have been extended. Thank you for your support" in place of the blurb that was there earlier in the week warning of what networks would be dropped.

Did DirecTV make changes?

Did DirecTV make some change to its packages? We've been a subscriber since April. Initially we did not get IFC or Sundance. Then all of a sudden several months later we got IFC and Sundance. As of this morning we no longer get IFC or Sundance. IFC we don't care about, but Sundance is cool with their weekday morning blocks of classic shows - All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, and Bob Newheart. (They also have MASH and Andy Griffith, which we don't like). Mom said she did not change our package subscription. She says we're locked into a 2 year contract at a set price.

USA was just fine around 1:30AM this morning, so I knew it had been averted. Thanks.
In other news, no negotiation has been made with Cox vs. DirecTV - KIRO, WSB, WHIO etc. all off DirecTV now.

Comcast resolves disputes with Fox News, YES network

Cable giant Comcast Corp. has reached an agreement to continue carriage of Fox News Channel, the two companies said, averting a blackout that would have left millions of viewers without access to the popular network.

As part of the deal, Comcast and Fox News-parent 21st Century Fox have also come to terms on a new distribution agreement for Fox’s YES regional sports network, which is home to the New York Yankees. Comcast stopped carrying YES in late 2015 because of a contract dispute.

Keeping Fox News is important for Comcast, one of the nation’s largest pay-TV distributors with over 20 million subscribers. The news network is coming off its best year ever in terms of ratings and has a loyal audience.

Although there is an accord on YES, it won’t immediately return to Comcast subscribers. The channel will likely not be back until after the baseball season starts in the spring, people with knowledge of the pact said.

Good - glad it was resolved quickly, and not like that Tribune vs. Dish thing that went on forever. Hearst stations are still off the air - WCVB being one of the largest stations.

Cable One and Suddenlink are known to be stingy, hence both systems dropping the Viacom channels (which by the way aren't as major as they were a decade ago) in the last couple of years.

Merideth Vs. Optimum? From WFSB's Facebook:

"WFSB has been trying for months to reach an agreement for Optimum from Altice to continue carrying Channel 3's programming. Please help us keep WFSB on Optimum from Altice. 1-516-803-2300 connects you to Optimum from Altice customer service."

This also affects Suddenlink subscribers in the Phoenix, Kansas City and Las Vegas DMAs.
