Well you have Discovery, AMC and Viacom negotiating for skinny bundles plans with the MVPD's and cable providers.
Viacom and Altice Reach New Ad, Content Distribution Deal
Viacom and Altice USA said they signed a new advertising and content distribution deal that returns Viacom’s cable networks to Suddenlink subscribers.
The deal also continues carriage of Viacom’s networks on Optimum systems and creates new advertising opportunities using Altice’s data and platforms with Viacom’s advanced advertising products.
Suddenlink unplugged Viacom’s networks, including MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon in 2015 and replaced them with networks including Revolt TV, Comedy.TV and Sprout.
“We are pleased to establish a new partnership between Altice USA and Viacom,” said Michael Schreiber, chief content officer of Altice USA. “Our joint efforts to find flexible and creative solutions will benefit Altice USA's customers as we look to provide the best video experience in our markets, build on our innovative data-driven advertising capabilities, and provide our customers with access to Viacom’s marquee programming.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PlayStation Vue Drops beIN Sports
PlayStation Vue confirmed that it has dropped beIN Sports and beIN Sports en Español, as another virtual MVPD, fuboTV, wants to turn that programming decision into an opportunity.
Streaming Observer reported on the decision Wednesday, citing a message from PS Vue to subscribers that it would no longer carry those networks as of Thursday, June 8.
“Despite our best efforts, we were unable to come to an agreement on terms with the network,” a PS Vue official said in an emailed statement. beIN Sports has also been asked for comment.
Sling TV, Dish Network’s OTT TV service, offers beIN Sports to customers on its Sling Orange and Sling Blue packages that also take its Sports Extra package, which runs an additional $5 per month.
Meanwhile, fuboTV, the sports-oriented vMVPD, has stepped into the breach with a limited-time offer of a 40% discount on fuboTV Premier, a package that includes beIN Sports, beIN Sports en Español, and access to beIN Sports Connect, for two months. fuboTV said it will run the promo through June 23, 2017.
Other virtual MVPDs such as DirecTV Now, Hulu and YouTube TV currently do not offer beIN Sports.
Washington, D.C. (July 12, 2017) - Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred yesterday stated unequivocally that he will not get involved in the Los Angeles Dodgers TV dispute that has left many home viewers without their favorite team for four seasons.
However, DIRECTV and most other major TV providers in the LA market have refused to carry the channel because they say TWC (and now Charter, which purchased the cable operator in 2016) has demanded excessive fees to offset the record-breaking payments to the Dodgers.
Consequently, Charter now is the only major pay TV service in the market to offer SportsNet LA, which means more than 60 percent of area viewers are shut out.
The Los Angeles Times writes that Manfred said yesterday at an All-Star Game press conference in Miami that he would not encourage Charter or the Dodgers to try to renegotiate the $8.35 billion contract so the cable operator could offer better carriage terms, which would presumably lead to more providers carrying the channel.
In fact, Manfred seemed less than sympathetic to the plight of non-Charter subscribers who can’t watch the games at home.
“First of all,” Manfred said, “Dodger fans can in fact see the games if they become Charter Spectrum subscribers.”
The Times pointed out that Charter does not offer service in the entire LA market so his statement was not quite accurate. Manfred then conceded that not everyone can get Charter, but he reiterated he could not get involved.

Apparently Dish Network is suing Univision over its broadcast rights to air soccer games on facebook.
Dish Network is run by bullies. They refuse to carry The Yes Network or SNY - Sports Net New York. Those are 2 major New York RSN's. If you are a fan of the Yankees, Nets, Mets, or UCONN you are out of luck if you have Dish. (Those are the major teams on these RSN's).
