The Programming Disputes Thread

DISH and Tribune Broadcasting Reach Agreement on Carriage and Retransmission Consent ;)

The agreement restores DISH carriage of Tribune Broadcasting's 42 local television stations in 33 markets, and Tribune's cable network, WGN America.

The companies issued the following joint statement:

"We want to thank our viewers and customers for their patience and support as we worked through this lengthy process. We're pleased to move forward and again be able to provide the content of Tribune's local stations and WGN America for years to come."

Both WGN America and Tribune's local stations are expected to again be available to DISH customers later today.

FINALLY! It's about time Dish.and Tribune did something to end this dispute. I still don't like Dish though, because they say all channels they have are going to be there, but, that's a lie, because they take them away, because of disputes. I know every cable company has it's disputes, but Dish, well, they have a long history of them, and it's too much disputes for me to ever trust them.

The DISH/Tribune dispute ended just in time for the NFL Season which starts on Sunday the 11th. Connecticut fans of the NY Giants missed out on 4 pre-season games including this past Thursdays game where they defeated The New England Patriots just like they did in 2 Superbowls. They also missed the first UCONN Football game also last Thursday. 3 of those pre-season Giants games were on WCCT-TV (CW) and the 4th was on WTIC-TV (FOX), which carries 9 regular season Giants games from FOX.

I've forgotten what this relates to, but there was a full-page ad in an area newspaper saying if WGHP didn't solve its problem, most of the Carolina Panthers games and other NFL games would be lost, along with the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Now I'm a few weeks behind with actual newspapers at the library.

Tribune dispute which is now resolved

YES Network has been off COMCAST/XFINITY for 10 months. Is this one of the longest disputes ever?

How about MSG & SNY off Dish since 2010 (MSG) and 2013 (SNY)?
YES has NEVER been on Dish so I guess that wouldnt count (just like Pac12 on Directv)

With MSG and SNY, I think DISH may have made the decision to not really compete in the New York area (cable penetration is probably very high)
