The Programming Disputes Thread

This one has been going on for a month out in Colorado: https://awfulannouncing.com/local-n...home-of-the-nuggets-avalanche-and-rapids.html

This basically is limiting Altitude Sports to Charter Spectrum, which doesn't serve much of the population in Colorado, but is the dominant cable provider in Montana, western Nebraska, and Wyoming. Right now, it is easier to watch the Avalanche, Nuggets, and Rapids in Chicago or Los Angeles than it is in Colorado (Comcast is dominant in Colorado (serving almost all of the Front Range megalopolis from Fort Collins to Pueblo); Charter Spectrum serves most of rural Colorado)

Apparently AT&T, Comcast and Dish are in a dispute with Avalance Sports.

at this point, i wouldn't be surprise if Dish just drops all RSNs from their lineup for good.

They're in the process. They haven't carried either of the New York area RSNs in years (MSG (including the former FSN New York, now MSG+) was dropped in 2010 and YES Network has never been carried). The two main advantages I can think of for Dish Network are their international selection and their having local channels for all 210 markets (DirecTV doesn't offer local channels in the smallest markets)

Local area bars would be upset if Root Sports was ever pulled off Dish. (Well the Mariners sucked as usual this year...maybe not?)

FS1, FS2, BTN and Fox O&O's are back on Dish

We are pleased to announce that DISH and the FOX Corporation have reached a multi-year agreement for stations including FS1, FS2, Big10Network, FOX Soccer + and FOX Deportes.

We greatly appreciate your patience and support while we worked to bring your stations back.

Now the Amazon/Disney Dispute continues

Amazon and Disney reportedly are locked in a standoff over the advertising inventory within Disney apps on Amazon’s Fire TV platform.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon wants to sell a “substantial percentage” of the available ad space on Disney streaming apps, and Disney isn’t taking the deal. The publication’s sources seemed to think a deal could still be reached, but said that if not, streaming apps for networks including ABC, ESPN and Disney Channel could be pulled down from Fire TV devices.

The report said that the advertising dispute is one of the reasons that the upcoming Disney+ streaming service is launching without support for Amazon devices. The report also said that Amazon typically starts out negotiations asking for 40% of ad inventory from programmers before coming down to 30% or 20%. The deal talks with Disney are reportedly currently centered on 10% of ad space.

Yes Even on Internet TV 's there are contract disputes similar to how cable TV has contract disputes.

Recently Disney announced the device support for Disney+ with many popular streaming players like Roku and the Apple TV listed. Sadly for Fire TV fans, Disney has left out the Amazon Fire TV so far. Now we have learned that many Disney apps like ESPN+ may be removed soon from Amazon’s Fire TV devices.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal the Fire TV may soon lose access to Disney apps and be left out in the cold when it comes to Disney+ all because of a fight over advertising. This all comes down to Amazon’s demand that they have the right to sell a “substantial percentage of the ad space on Disney apps,” according to the report from the Wall Street Journal. According to the report, Disney is pushing back on Amazon’s demands to have rights to sell ads on Disney’s apps including including ABC, ESPN and Disney Channel.

Wow it would be crazy if Jeff Bezos the leader of Amazon starts doing the Dispute videos in the same way Warren Schlichting does dispute videos for Dish.

Nice! That will keep KING on my television for the forseeable future. Which speaking of, I figured everything except news was blacked out. Nope...Dr. Phil at 2:00 was cleared even though KIMA airs it at 3PM. Same with KOMO's Kelly Clarkson at 2. Looks like syndicated stuff is mostly cleared, albeit the 480i quality. Will see what happens come 'Wheel' time. Does Spectrum black out KOMO then because KNDO airs it at the *same* time?

Yup, Wheel's blacked out on KOMO. I guess if a syndicated program is cleared in Yakima and airs at a DIFFERENT time in Seattle it's cleared. I.E. Kelly at 2PM on KOMO vs. 9AM on KIMA.
