Youtube TV is in a Dispute with the Sinclair owned Regional sports networks
Youtube TV is in a Dispute with the Sinclair owned Regional sports networks
Baseball fans who also subscribe to YouTube TV got some bad news on Thursday when YouTube TV announced it will drop all Sinclair-owned Fox regional sports networks on February 29. The announcement means fans in several markets — including New York, where the Yankees’ YES Network will be going away — will not be able to catch their favorite teams on YouTube TV.

YouTube TV tweeted it was “unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair” to continue carrying Fox’s RSNs.

“We do not take this decision lightly. This is a reflection of the rising cost of sports content,” the Google-owned service tweeted. “You may have noticed several other TV services have also decided to remove FOX Regional Sports Networks from their lineups.”

Here is an update on the Sinclair/ Youtube TV dispute.

Sinclair Broadcast Group said it reached an agreement with YouTube TV to carry 19 of its 21 regional sports networks.

Sinclair, which acquired the Fox Regional Sports Network from the Walt Disney Co., last year, said Prime Ticket and Fox Sports West will no longer be carried on YouTube TV effective Thursday.

Earlier, YES Network said it had been dropped by YouTube TV. Sinclair acquired a stake in YES last year when it was sold to a group that also includes the Yankees and Amazon.

The Sinclair release did not mention Marquee Network, the joint venture between Sinclair and the Chicago Cubs, which launched last month.

“We are pleased that YouTube TV was able to agree to terms on 19 of our RSNs and that they will continue to provide subscribers with access to some of the most in-demand sports networks in the nation,” said David Gibber, senior VP and general counsel of Sinclair. “Millions of fans across the country tune into sports content daily and, at Sinclair, our goal is to make this as widely accessible as possible.”

On 3/11 Dish uplinked a bunch of stations named "dish" which usually means a dispute is possible

This batch is Scripps. No splash pages on either Scripps stations nor Dish promise in regards to a drop but they did uplink the slates so it may be imminent

Turns out Dish was in a dispute with Cox Media Group. But then a PR Ploy Dish has released that they are continuing to run the Cox owned stations for now due to the Local News involving COVID-19.

COVID 19 should be a valid reason for all disputes to stop in order to keep the public informed.

looks like Dish is doing temporary agreements

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday threw out a lower court ruling in favor of a black media mogul and comedian who’s suing cable giant Comcast alleging racial discrimination.

The justices agreed unanimously that an appeals court applied the wrong legal standard in allowing business owner Byron Allen’s $20 billion suit against Comcast to go forward. Allen has a separate $10 billion suit against Charter Communications that the justices’ decision also affects.

A federal appeals court in San Francisco had said that Allen needed to show that race was among the factors in Comcast’s decision not to offer him a contract. But the Supreme Court said that Allen has to show that race was the decisive factor in the cable companies’ refusal to carry his television channels. Comcast has said it declined to carry the channels because the programming isn’t very good.

This court case is coming into play as Byron Allen is named as a candidate to get the Tegna Stations.

Dish in a dispute with ESPN over fees in its contract.

Charlie Ergen’s satellite TV company Dish Network is picking a fight with Disney over the millions of dollars it pays for ESPN programming at a time when there are no sporting events, The Post has learned.

Dish Network, the nation’s fourth largest TV provider, wants to wiggle out of the $80 million to $100 million fees it’s supposed to pay ESPN for April broadcasting rights, one source said. The fees are due at the end of the month and Dish has told ESPN that it plans to use that money instead to lower the monthly bills of its roughly 12 million subscribers, the source added.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said ABS-CBN's license expired on May 4 and gave the station 10 days to respond.

In an interview with ABS-CBN's radio station, DZMM, NTC Deputy Commissioner Edgardo Cabarios said that the order is "immediately executory", and Department of Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra affirmed the legal opinion.

In a statement, which was first read on-air over DZMM, the ABS-CBN management said that it will abide by the order and will stop operation by the end of Tuesday.

After ABS-CBN files its response within the next 10 days, a hearing will be scheduled as soon as the coronavirus emergency lockdown in Metro Manila and other areas of the country is lifted.

WarnerMedia’s HBO Max is now live, packing in twice the content of legacy HBO for the same $14.99 monthly price. But for now, it’s unavailable on Roku and Amazon’s streaming platforms, which represent more than 80 million TV households.

Currently, you can’t access HBO Max on Roku or Amazon Fire TV devices, and if you’ve subscribed to HBO through Roku Channels or Prime Video Channels you’re also out of luck. That’s frustrating for customers who use those platforms, and it obviously will inhibit HBO Max’s initial uptake. Talks between WarnerMedia and the two companies continue, but there’s no indication when the parties may come to any agreements.

Pre-launch, WarnerMedia had secured a dozen distribution deals for HBO Max. Then on Wednesday the company announced that it also sealed a pact with Comcast for the streaming service.

Reasons why HBO Max is not on Roku and Amazon Fire TV for now.
