Through mid-September. This basically means, if it goes off after that, the new fall shows on Sinclair-owned stations are poof and gone on Dish, + NFL games.

Locast, a service that streamed local TV for free in about three dozen U.S. cities, is suspending operations after losses in court against the broadcast industry.

The owners of the country’s major broadcast TV networks — ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox — had sued Locast in 2019, saying Locast violated their copyrights, and asked for the service to be shut down.

Locast has held that because it is a nonprofit, it found a legal loophole in copyright law — it can stream the networks of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox without paying them. The companies that own the networks make billions annually in fees from cable companies who pay to include them in TV packages.

this was bound to happen sooner than later, the TV networks while airing free on air, are for profit, and most of their viewers get the stations via Satellite & Cable and now of days, via streaming, the future of free OTA TV is grim as these greedy networks could end up facing a new rule enforced by a future FCC where they have a choice, air for free and allow free carriage with no disputes on Cable, Satellite, and streaming or go off the air for OTA and convert to basic cable/satellite/streaming and charge the channel. i can see that happening, the end of OTA TV in the US due to greed by the TV networks and their parent companies strongarming the cable, satellite and streaming companies that give us a form of "Pay TV".

Locast got shut down cause they were making a profit over streaming OTA station for free with no permission (basically they were following the Napster mold of "screw the copyright owners" commit crimes and make money model), the networks hate that, they want money, now if Locast was to return, it would have to go "New Napster" and go pay wall and have to reach deals to stream the networks just like the rest of "Pay TV" with a carriage fee and permission, and instead of being "Non-profit" they need to admit they were a "For Profit" company. i wouldn't be surprise if those involved in owning/running Locast may be facing bigger white collar crimes investigations as in someone may want to look into their company to see if they were a charity or a "Charity" which in this case, was pretending to be one while committing crimes.

WarnerMedia is doing some damage control to mitigate potential subscriber losses after earlier this week HBO became no longer available through Amazon Prime Video Channels.


Starting today, consumers who accessed HBO via Prime Video Channels, along with all new and returning HBO Max subscribers, can get the HBO Max ad-free plan for $7.49 per month (a 50% discount) for up to six months. The deal is available through HBOMax.com and through distribution partners including Apple, Google, LG, Microsoft, Sony, Roku and Vizio. The offer is only good in the U.S. and only available until September 26.

HBO left the Amazon Prime Video Channels store on September 15 and left behind approximately 5 million subscribers.

I wonder when Apple buys them and adds it to Apple TV. They could afford the retransmission fees. That would get locals on streaming the legal way.

NBC could be in a carriage dispute with YouTubeTV. I can see anybody with Xfinity TV/Internet subscriptions get more ads hyping up Peacock on NBC owned stations in cases like this or subscribe to Xfinity TV service over this dispute. Expect KNTV San Jose and KSTS to get ads showing Xfinity TV Service or Peacock to go non-stop in this dispute.
 
Not exactly a programming dispute per se, but

MeTV Plus launched yesterday. In my area it's on Weigel Owned WHCT-LD 35.6 Hartford, CT and WZME 43.1 Bridgeport, CT/NYC.

My cable company is based in New Haven County and serves 2 towns in New Haven County and one in Hartford County (my town). WZME is licensed to Fairfield County. Both New Haven and Fairfield Counties are also part of the NYC market.

Apparently Weigel told my cable company to block out WZME's signal in my town being that it's Hartford County. As of yesterday when the switch from ShopHQ Health to MeTV Plus WZME comes up with an error message from COX. WZME has changed affiliations at least a dozen times since 03 when my family moved to the town where we live now and there has never been any issues receiving WZME's programming until now.

My cable company doesn't carry WHCT-LD (or any of its sub channels) due to it being an LPTV station opting instead to air the national feed of ME-TV.

September 30th is the day when NBC owned outlets are removed from YouTubeTV. Note some of this dispute is over YouTube TV carrying Peacock app as part of the issue according to Google and Comcast.

As of now, Weigel owns WZME. I wonder if WHCT-LD (and its subchannels) might get added to your cable company soon.

New Haven County is in the Hartford/New Haven market.
