The Ranch, their tower and aesthetics

From the latest amendment to the construction permit for relocating 95.9 KFWR from Mineral Wells to Jacksboro:

"The intent of this modification is to relocate the tower on the same property to be in harmony with the natural characteristic of the property and to minimize the changes to the existing vegetation on the property."

Has anyone ever seen a station application that contained the words "harmony," "natural" and "existing vegetation" in the same sentence?

For a look at the area around the site in question go to http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=33.07192,+-98.00758+(KFWR-FM)&om=1 I apologize to anyone living near "unnamed road, Perrin TX" but to me it looks like it could be gravel pit and mesquite tree territory. So what's the real story on this minor relocation?

No info on it here (only the wish it would force the questionable, non compliant 95.9 in Garland to shut down). But from looking on your map, that tower site is a long-ass haul from anywhere!

They could just paint the part of the tower below the horizon brown & the part above the horizon blue.

That would achieve natural harmony if it weren't for those darned airplanes.

The move was made to enhance the signal of 95.9, "The Ranch". To do so, they actually bought the Jaclsboro radio station and shut it down.

How much will it enhance the signal? From what I have read, not much at all and certainly not into Dallas County.

Their simulcaster here in Hopkins county needs to do something. I can see their Brashear tower from my house and their reception inside is not good. Travel between Greenville and Sulphur Springs and they go from fade-out to front-end overload to fade-out in 30 miles.

The 107.1 frequency that landed up there (originally Ken Jones' KTLR in Terrell) has been a throw-away from it's inception. I know someone who tried to buy the 106.9 station in Corsicana (before LKCM got them) from the now defunct First Broadcasting. They would not sell the Corsicana (106.9) stick without the one in Campbell (107.1) being part of the deal because it was then, and is still now, worthless. You had to take the piece of crap to get the piece of cake. That's why LKCM is stuck with it now. They didn't want it either but had to take it to get the Corsicana stick.
