The real *winner* after Infinity drops Oldies.

And no one has discussed this yet.

Where can listeners tune to? Obviously not a full fledged oldies station.

#1 winner. WDRV/WWDV. Bonnie is licking their chops this weekend. You can bet a lot of WJMK's former male upper demos will park on The Drive.

The Females? That is murkier. There is no Soft AC in town anymore. Nothing to appeal to a woman say 45 years old looking to relive her younger years. (she would be 15 in 1975). Maybe the below can satisfy SOME of the demo.

Love FM. Possibly. ------Also candidate #1 to FLIP oldies. Oldies with a 70's emphasis, 60's smattering until the 60's are way out of the 25+ demo. If Bonnie tailored 100.3 to be oldies COMPLIMENTING The Drive (read:female driven), they would have it locked up. Only thing to hold it up, Bonnie is known to stand by their formats, time test them and be loyal. But, this is a radical move by Infinity that can cause another radical move by someone else.

US99? Country shares part of an audience with Classic Rockers and Oldies stations.

103.5 KISS would be a sitting duck, but, CC STILL needs to have the brand name in market #3, so WKSC should still be safe.

Look for CC to pump some more advertising on Real Oldies. If they don't, that will show you their commitment to the operation.

Last i noticed, he isn't working at Jack. He's working at www.wjmk.com. It's that new oldies internet station. Same people, new place to listen to.

That didn't happen in Charlotte. CC Dropped oldies which had been running on Magic 96 for 17 years back in September. We have "The Ride" in Charlotte which is "The Drive" format. While I personally know a lot of guys who listen to "The Ride" it's not doing much in the ratings.

If anyone benifited it's the two Soft A/C stations in the market. CC and Infinity each have one.

No one has taken up the oldies format (yet).

By the way Magic became "The Beat" and has been giving Infinity a hard time with both their Urban and CHR stations taking a hit. They very well could recover. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Yes, THE BEAT signed on in Charlotte and BEAT (non pun intended) Infinity's KISS in one book! Ironically, the BEAT's PD, Rob Wagman, was a one time intern at the old Killer Bee, B96, and has since those days, had a VERY successful career!<P ID="signature">______________

and even less places you can listen....How will Dick do his "don't drink and drive" shout outs when only geeks with broadband (like me) can listen
