"the real" Ziegler

I read a website about Ziegler's experience at kfi. What a cry baby. What a lot about nothing.

He complains he was told to broadcast from a remote studio that would make him run a 10 mile commute "when the traffic was at its worst." Wow a ten mile commute! He said he rented a crappy apartment so he wouldn't have to commute-well just rent another crappy apartment.

He would have to broadcast from a studio looking at "a wall 2 feet away" and it would be hard to "interview someone like Ann Coulter." --Gee a closet type studio might be a good place to interview Ann.

He claims Handel and John and Ken changed their minds about Iraq. If you believe polls, support for Iraq dropped from about 80% to about 20-40%. So I guess there are a lot of phonies out there. Look at Ed Schultz-a conservative now a lib. Look at Tammy Bruce formerly a liberal now conservative. Big deal. So a Jaguar salesman becomes a BMW salesman and changes his sales pitch--welcome to the real world. So someone takes a certain position to get a job or ratings. Big deal. Happens all the time. In fact, most debate classes require you can take both sides of an issue.

Ziegler alienated his co-workers, and not just John & Ken. They wouldn't have had to send him over to Premiere if he had just done his job and tried to be friendly. You know, play well with eh other kids in the playground. As for that studio at Premiere, yes they have some small rooms, but others are larger. Maybe they gave him one of the smaller rooms because that's all they had available, but who knows? Perhaps they gave the nicer studios to talent that actually do shows for Premiere. The web page does seem to sound like sour grapes, but from what I've heard from friends in Burbank he was a sour guy.
He’ll land somewhere and alienate his new co-workers there I’m sure.

From my experience over the last couple of years in talk radio, ive found out that you have to be really into yourself to be on the air. I mean like way beyond narcissistic. So this just sounds typical to me. And I thought music jocks were conceited.

I still say, with 20 some studios within the facility in the Pinnacle Building, why he had to move to Premier. And I understand that the case can be made that he was the one not playing nice. All I can say is that in my contacts he has always behaved honestly and reasonably. I was not there so I can not make any judgements about his behavior with co workers.

The other point I made elsewhere is that I still say that John Kobylt was the one who over reacted. Even if Ziegler was wrong in his attack, Kobylt could have made it an interesting piece of "More Stimulating" radio by firing back in like manner instead of having a snit like a snotty brat who had his candy snatched by the class bully. In the whining and sniveling category Kobylt comes out the winner, hands down.

I happened to enjoy Ziegler and I find John and Ken to be very obnoxious at times so when I was annoyed, which was most of the time, I tuned out. Others did not like Ziegler and obviously the ratings say that others do like John and Ken, a fact that I can not refute. I also do not know if Ziegler was naive or not, but if he truly believes he was hired to do relevant commentary he is suspect in the regard. All you have to do is see that Dennis Pragar is on KRLA and Michael Jackson on KGIL to get how intelligent commentary is valued in the talk radio business. If intelligence and relevance were what KFI wanted they (Jackson and Pragar) would be on AM-640 middays instead of that bloviating gasbag and the obnoxious psycho psychologist.

M Moore what is your personal investment in this story? You've been working if
for a month? Zig is a putz and that's that.

Actually they have over 40 studios on 2 floors at the Pinnacle, but you can subtract 8 that are the main control rooms for each station. That still leaves over 30 rooms, but they all have purposes and some are rigged only as small voice tracking booths. He was moved to Premiere in order to keep him as far away as possible from John & Ken, mainly John. You just don't pick on the 600 pound gorilla... But really, he pissed off more than just John & Ken and that didn't help.

No investment, only putting forth alternative thoughts. I can only say for sure that in any direct interaction I personally have had that I did not find JZ a "putz". If you have more light to shed on that subject then please let the rest of us know.

I find that all hard to believe, if he was such an *-hole then they could have used the Kobylt on air confrontation as an excuse to fire him. Bill Handel does not care for Kobylt either and I am sure there are a lot of other people who dislike him, sometimes I even suspect Ken Chiampou might be among them. I can't believe that John Ziegler who seems to me to be a reasonably likable person is so universally hated and again if he was he would have been fired much sooner. John Kobylt though, like him or not, is a rating generator and not likely to be fired for such a thing which I can understand as a sound business decision.

And with 20 (or 40) possible sites in the building why move Ziegler to Sherman Oaks? Sounds like the demand on an egotistical personality who may have threatened to walk otherwise. Again though I can see the business consideration for acceding. But again why not just get rid of the other problem personality altogether who was not as valuable from a ratings standpoint and who by your view was so reviled by the entire staff? Maybe the thought of a potential lawsuit for unjustified termination?

Finally, in all of the recent removal of people at CC-LA, only two were allowed to go on the air, after they knew they were being let go. They were Charlie Tuna and John Ziegler. If management were so disgusted with Zig, they wouldn't have let him go back on air and after business office hours at that. At least the execs were all in the building for Charlie's farewell.

I realize that so far only one side has been put forth in public and I can not say for sure why, however I am skeptical enough to not believe all that appears on therealkfi.com. However without any refutation from the other side(s) I am not willing to accept all that people on the sidelines are presenting as the truth either. In other words all of the comments on here are either rumor or speculation with no attributed backup, including my own comments, except that I have had some direct communication with Zig though I admit not face to face as I have noted before.
