The relationship between 1230 and 1160/1180

Now that WDJO is on 1160, this is the third time a format or call letters has jumped from 1230 to 1160/1180. In 1985, the WMLX Nostalgia format left 1230 when they became WDJO. The WMLX call letters and Nostalgia format eventually ended up on 1180 in 1987, when it was a 1kw daytimer. Chancellor flipped WUBE-AM 1230 to sports in 1995 as "The Score", and they eventually bought what had become a 5kw signal on 1160 and the "Score" sports format ended up on 1160 in 1996. They later dumped the WKYN call letters and became WBOB in 1997. Now, the WDJO call letters and format have returned and are on 1160. Does this mean that 1160 will eventually be The BUZZ? Just kidding.

For the record, the WDJO calls were also used by Clear Channel Dayton as "Jammin' Oldies 106.5-FM before it switched to "Smooth Jazz" WDSJ.

One more relationship between 1230 and 1160/1180

WDJO Sales Manager Mike Gavin was the mid-day DJ on Top 40 1230-WCPO back in 1964-1965...
