The return of Hartford channels 48 & 50

Pretty much as the topic says, lats night I tuned around the dial and the test patterns were gone, both stations were back to noral programminhg.

How can there be a channel 48 in this area when there's already a low-power channel 47 somewhere in greater Hartford? From where I live in New Britain's south end, I don't get channel 48 or 50, but I do get a weak channel 47.

I beleive both Channel 48 and 50 have their towers on Avon Mountain. Channel 48 is WRNT-LP a decendent of WMLD-LP Channel 6. WMLD-LP is what became of WHTX-LP Channel 10. WHTX-LP Moved to 43 in Springfield and is a simulcast of WUVN/WUNI.

Meanwhile, WUTH-CA Channel 47, which is licensed to Hartford, actually has it's tower on Birch Mountain Road in Glastonbury. If you look in the Hartford Phone Book, Channel 47 is the WXTV you see listed there. Channel 47 was briefly known as WXTV-LP (May 1995 until November 1995) during the period it simulcasted WXTV Channel 41 from the NYC Market. It was W47AD before and after that.

Here's the listing from Yahoo Yellow Pages: http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypResults.py...t=41.711460&sln=-72.608276&cs=4&Submit=Search

I think 47 has their tower or transmitter over there as well.

Channel 50 has a pretty strong signal in Farmington. I'll have to check 48 next time I'm up there. I know there is also a channel 38 that broadcasts Azteca America. Where is their tower? They have a decent signal Farmington.

Yes, they did, very weak signal, they were one of those "The Box" stations with 24/7 pay to play music videos and I think the call was W69CE or something like that.

I don't detect any interference between 47 and 48, or 50 for that matter. All are coming in fine here.

48, or WRNT, seems like it could become an interesting station. It's on the VSEN-TV network, anyone know anything about it? They've had some nice old movies on it late at night.
