The Return of "The Ticket"?

LARadio.com is reporting that KLAA-AM 830 is dropping all of it's talk shows including Glenn Beck and Michael Savage after today, and that the station becomes a full-time "Sporting News Radio" afilliate come Monday.

To quote Sponge Bob....."Well, good luck with that"

The story made no mention of the "Sporting News Radio" network other than the mention of a delayed broadcast of the syndicated Tony Bruno Show ("Beeeuuutiful!!") and the fact that Roger Lodge and Dave Smith were "on the former Sporting News outlet." BUT you may turn out to be partially correct. The morning show is hosted by former 1540 The Ticket regulars Lodge and Smith. So at least SoCal will have a local sports talk show in the AM. Will ratings follow????

The silver lining is that at least we'll be free (for a while at least) from Savage's hateful and bigoted swill.

Any chance Bonneville swiped Savage and Beck for a new Newstalk 100.3?

Hmmmm verrrrry interesting ;)

Do any Bonneville stations carry either or both?
Aren't they both in the Top 5 of radio listenership nationwide?

I'm not sure about the Beck/Savage programs for Bonneville, but I am absolutely certain 830 is NOT picking these sports talk hosts through Sporting News Radio. From what I've heard, they're actually hiring/paying Roger Lodge and Dave Smith. (I'm happy for Dave, he's a decent guy and deserves a paying gig)

Tony Bruno is coming to KLAA via some new "syndicator" who's buying the airtime to clear Tony's latest incarnation (as in "paid programming"). I have no idea, nor does anyone I know, how they're coming up with the money or how much they're paying Tony but it's a great deal for the station.

The irony in this story is the billboard sales guys running the Angels/KLAA were offered Tony, Dave, Petros, et al when SNR was looking to find a new Los Angeles affiliate as the sale of 1540 KMPC was taking place and were turned down. Heck they could have been the flagship station for the network. Now, instead of essentially getting the programming/talent for "free" as a network afffiliate they're now taking on the expense of hiring most of the same talent. Brilliant!

Can't wait to see what happens with this little experiment at the end of the season...

That's OK by me, Savage and Beck were hysterically awful!
