The Return of Wease

And The Wease Show has "bought" a schedule of TV promos on.....wait for it.....WHAM TeeVee!

Jeepers! Whoodathunkit??

Isn't WHAM-TV separate from CC now? I doubt the flight was a freebie.

I think that we should all welcome "Wease Fan" to the board. Congratulations on your first post, Brutha'. Where you been for the last 9 months? It's not like you've been that busy.

WHAM-TV and Clear Channel Radio are no longer co-owned but there is still a very tight relationship that continues to exist. You doubt the Wease flight was a freebee? So do I, and I didn't mean that. I would be willing to bet it's a trade.

What I think is funny is the New Wease show spends all its time talking about the OLD WEASE show, and Wease has to explain to the rest of the cast what's going on?

I think the man room or the break room or whatever cmf is calling it is a better show. Who knows what will happen in the ratings, but from content, Wease is a show about a guy from yesterday...talking about yesterday, and the rest of the cast is watching it....contributing nothing (but lame jokes from the so called comic and guys wanting to tap the chick)

Hey CC, Bring on Bob N Tom and dump the dude who costs so much....Bob N Tom....way betta than Wease... And Bob 1377 or whatever, please no lecture about how syndication never works...i'm talking quality here...not ratings....I know it won't work....after all...XXI doesn't run syndication...oh wait it does...and I think it does better than you....

Honestly, I don't think a single one of you people actually work in the business and if you do, clearly do not have access to any ratings or numbers for the past 3 years. Wease was done 2 years ago. The Buzz morning show and the Bee morning show consistently were beating him in the money demo. You do know the money demo right? It's not 12+, people. Its 25-49 and 25-54. The Buzz morning show was number one this last book in both categories. Check it out. They were number one in the Spring as well. CMF is doing fine and the whole team I am sure is glad to be rid of Wease. Just ask any one of them who finally can have their voice heard

With Wease and John DiTullio, "The Wease Show" may have a lock on "Worst Voices in Professional Radio".
They both sound like they gargle with razor blades each morning. But between both of them I bet they earn way over a half million dollars a year. Go figure! I've heard better sounding announcers at small market stations.

Hi Voice of Reason:

First of all, I know where Mr. DiTullio lives and I've seen his house. I live a few houses away. His house nor the town he lives in is not indicative of one making a half million dollars or even a quarter million dollars - unless he's spending the rest of his money on a year's supply of Gillette razor blades.

Second of all, Ya know it's funny that you mention it. I keep seeing the Gillette Razor blade vendor truck parked at his curb several times a week. :)

Gahhh! A certain Freddy Krueger image appears. You coulda said Liquid Drano. Which by the way has a certain zestiness.

I guess those who "don't actually work in the business" owe you a big THANK YOU for coming on the board to "educate" them.

You are kidding right? I have been listening to Bob N Tom in the morning on The 95.1. They are alright, but I have never heard so much forced, fake laghter in my life. It gets very annoying. Wease is, and will be much more entertaining then them.

OK Mr. Voice, what did Wease do to you to make you dislike him so much? Just curious. Also I doubt very much that CMF will make a run. I love those guys in the morning, but they have been missing a big portion of their show since January.

If you find Wease entertaining, then by all means listen to the guy. However I personally think that WCMF’s Morning Show has improved since Wease left.
It has allowed the three hosts to showcase their own talent and abilities.
Speaking of talent, I don’t think it takes talent for someone to eat food on the air, belch, and spend four to five hours talking about how great they are. It’s also an insult to listeners to berate them for calling the station congratulating you on returning to the airwaves, which Wease did his first day on the Fox.
To answer your question, no I don’t hate the guy. Actually I said a prayer for the man when he was undergoing a life-threatening illness and my prayer was answered. It’s just that I don’t buy this “hype” about Wease being, as the D&C put it… “A Rochester Radio Icon.” He might have been unique back in the 80's, but his shtick is outdated.
IMHO radio in general is mediocre at best.
Morning shows today either consist of a group of people trying to be entertaining, which they are not; or right-wing talk shows with the host screaming the world is coming to an end because Obama will be the next President of the United States. For those stations that doesn’t play up personalities, but music, the music ends up being the same songs repeated on a regular basis.

Wease has a lot of fans and will undoubtedly draw them to the Fox. His show will do well and make money for Clear Channel. It's interesting that this morning, while his competition up the dial was doing a serious discussion on a local news story (involving a local teacher facing murky misconduct accusations) Wease was doing a celebrity chat with Denis Leary. That may be an indication of the different directions these two shows will take over the long haul.

Wease is Wease and his show is in many ways just a matter of picking up where he left off, although his new supporting cast is still getting on its feet. His fans will enjoy it. The Break Room over on CMF has its moments, but needs a focus, a central figure for the rest of the cast to play off of in the way Wease used to be. Doesn't have one now, none of the people there has emerged as first among equals and the show needs someone to do that. If I were programming CMF for Entercom I'd seriously consider pulling Brian Robinson off afternoons and putting him in that role. That would make the show edgier, funnier and with a more sardonic/sarcastic tone, definitely different than any other morning show in the city.

I too think Mr. Robinson would be an excellent choice for a morning show on 'CMF. He comes across to me as someone who's intelligent without being smug, unlike a former Rochester radio personality who now does sports talk on WGR... ;)
