The "Right" News for the Suburbs?

I was very surprised when tuning in WNPV Friday afternoon for the TOH no nonsense, straight facts AP Network newscast to hear Fox 'News' instead. I know AP was dropping its 24/7 all news service but I believe the half hourly updates were to continue.

Montgomery Country may be thought of as 'red', but has elected a 'blue' US Congress Rep. and went for the Democratic President for several elections now. The hourly Fox update may not be opinion-heavy like the Fox-TV talk shows, but image-wise it is thought of as a conservative voice. Not sure why a suburban station trying to attract a full-service, all inclusive audience would go this route - would fit WPHT or WNTP much better, although since WNPV added Mike Gallager it has skewed right, too. Could turn off as many people as it attracts.

So now WNPV has 2 minutes of Fox followed by a pre-recorded generic local newscast - the same one played all day long recorded at 6am.

Wonder if Fox will pressure them/make a deal to drop ESPN for Fox Sports talk shows all weekend?

For starters, I believe Tony Snow's show airs 9AM-12 Noon. Why not drop Duke and the Doctor? You could move the two hour local block back to 12-2P (Comment Please as well as the hour before it with the local specialty shows). For balance, they could throw Phil Hendrie on 7-10P, then Alan Colmes 10P-1AM. Then, pick up ESPN or something else overnight.
______________
FOX News Alert: YOU SUCK!!! Ya like apples?

The fox news blurb is pretty much straight up...not propoganda. Maybe they figure on getting a piece of the cable audience.
