The River at Midnight

I was driving home tonight (a little after midnight), listening to The River, and all of a sudden it went to static. For the entire 10 minutes left of my drive it was static with a little bit of rock in the background. I heard a station ID for 107.5 The Pulse. Anyone have any info on this??

Last I checked it was still static (about 15 min ago)

But I did some research and apprently 107.5 The Pulse is a rock station out of Southeast Missouri. It wouldn't surprise me to pick that up at night on a frequency that wasn't taken in Nashville, but since The River's frequency is strong in the area I am quite surprised.

In that case, it sounds like a false alarm. On an extraordinarily humid night while The River's transmitter is down, it's not much of a stretch to DX a station just 200-250 miles away. It's not something that would happen every night, but it is easily possible.<P ID="signature">______________

Well that's not as fun as a sneaky middle of the night flip...but I can see how that could happen..
 
I would imagine...since it was a little after midnight...it was x-mitter maintenance...or a boo boo.

Last weekend, it was WSIX's turn: the CC engineering staff is
installing new digital STLs (studio-to-transmitter links).<P ID="signature">______________

That's probably what it was. When I lived in a smaller market, I got DX all the time, and I still get it here. I did get 99.7 from Atlanta last year, when WWTN was off the air for a couple of hours. I even got Boston stations here in Nashville last year during some really good skip.

Yeah, I think Jack, how shall I say this, was also off the air just
after midnight. Don't they use the same tower?

Chris, have you heard if CC is planning on changing the processing
EQ on the Nashville stations? They've done that in NY and everybody's
been stressing out about how they sound. <P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by tibbs on 07/25/05 03:20 PM.</FONT></P>
