THE RIVER

Afternoon Drive shift available at Boston’s signature AAA.
Retirement of legacy air talent creates exciting opportunity at Boston’s Independent Radio. Come work and play in radio…yes, it is possible to both work and play in radio. Must have passion for music and a natural, “non- radio” on air delivery. Knowledge of Boston a plus. Northeast Broadcasting is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Resumes and demos to: Program Director, WXRV, 30 How St. Haverhill, MA 01830

Rumoe has it former WNFQ " FrankFM" PD Sarah Sullivan is a sales weasel there, I'm surprised she wasn't offered the gig, unless the ad is the usual " we post it everywhere so we can't be accused of not trying to meet affirmative action requirements the fcc has forced on us"

Their on-air announcement is that Bob Stuart retired and they would like you to send in your suggestions of what they should do to fill his shoes. They could lure Bob Marrone out of Cumulus in CT--he sounds exactly like Bob Stuart, same kind of comments, easy delivery, silver-tongued devil.

I find it odd that his name simply disappeared from the web site. One day he was there and then ::poof:: he was gone. Was it simply retirement or did he finally just leave like all the rest? Inquiring minds want to know.

Congrats to Bob "Binoscopes"* Stuart for having survived an insane owner for so long and living to tell the tale !

*a reference to another wayward and insane radio brother who also survived his own "Hell".

Maybe he was battle-hardened by going along on those company "est" training sessions. ;)

No email address? Do they really want snail mail submissions?

The River can't even attract a PD (no disrespect to their current, but she had zero experience), never mind a legacy jock to replace Bob Stuart.
At this point, there are too many stories out there. NO ONE with any other options will work with the owner. It's a shame, because they put out a pretty good product.

There is a pretty big pool of people with no other option, and I have absolutely no doubt that the usual crowd of wannabes who had a cup of coffee doing an interim or weekend gig at some rimshot back before the bird replaced card readers (talk about a nothing for nothing trade) will be getting those T&Rs out there and spewing the usual 1983 radio cliches during their interviews. Lots of talk about "the next level," lot of talk about "legacy," lot of bits from a morning show in a putrid market featuring celebrity birthdays, stolen Stern bits and jokes about the traffic girl's sex life, lots of bragging about insipid promotions that got a mention in a free newspaper with more space than copy.

Gee maybe some will even reprise the typical 1977 Broadcasting situations wanted ad:

"Tight board, third endorsed, 4 years exp., all formats, ready now"

Yeah, tight board, all formats lol. R&R posted an opening once that ended with "No calls, No Hippies, Drifters or Potheads"
